Time to read articles, blogs, forums

How much time do you spend daily on reading professional content? It is better to systematically give for example an hour or half an hour and at any cost to read every day, or still when reading falls under the priorities and there are no more important cases? Because reading is important in most cases not here and now, but in the long term ..

I tend to read in, let's call it, batches There are days that I do not read much, but on some days, I get barely any regular work and spend large part of the day by reading stuff - this usually happens when I'm trying to research something. I do some reading daily though, at least screening the forums and some facebook groups.

I read mostly at nights when work is done.

During day I save anything interesting/long read to Pocket app and get back to it later.

If there is a problem I need to solve, I just read it straight away and apply it afterwards where possible.

Lately I also started listening audiobooks while driving, but I'm still getting used to it and many time I rather switch on my music on Spotify

Warren Buffett spends 80% of his day reading.

I think the key is making sure that you don't spend time reading crap.

I tend to spend at least an hour a day reading profession-relevant material, sometimes considerably more. I usually do it first thing in the morning as a good wake-up, but if the day turns into a research-heavy day I'll just keep going.

I'd say the first question to answer here is "do you enjoy reading and research?". If you do, you'll probably do it naturally, and the key thing is to do it in flow, keep an eye on it to make sure you're also taking plenty of action, and not worry too much about when you're doing it.

If you don't enjoy it, on the other hand, then a more structured "one hour a day at time X" approach may be better.

As a side note: my definition of "profession-relevant material" is pretty loose. I find that's a good approach, as often I'll absorb information which, whilst not directly relevant now, will subsequently become useful months or even years later. However, that may be a function of my approach to life, and may not work for everyone.

It's fucking it. This is exactly what my question was about. But in the moment I could not put it on words. I work by stopwatch. And all the stories that I work for 16 hours a day - the illusions of living in which it's nice, it's nice to lie to yourself that you work like crazy. If enough time is meticulously tracked, we will find to our regret that there is not really much concentrated and productive time. That's it from this moment and the question appeared. If I need something right now - I do not think about it at all, but I just go and read right away. But here the question concerns the focus. On the one hand - why clog the current ether, if the tasks are clear and set. On the other, how to develop if you do not learn something new.

My feelings tell me that at the moment it's a waste of time. My head tells me that I still need to read.

There's nothing wrong with working in "seasons". If you're in a productivity season right now, go be productive! You'll end up in a research season at another time.

On the other hand, if you never read, or only read when it's really urgent, then it's worth trying to develop the habit.

Anyone can show a post where there was a list of blogs and useful resources? I saw this useful post here. And of course, either I thought that I should write to the bookmarks, or I decided to remember that. And now I can not find.
