Yup I would try that - delete all the references to backfix.js and just add that snippet you posted above.

Then put your Voluum click url in that snippet, add the lander to Voluum, create a voluum campaign and specify this lander and an offer, browse to the voluum campaign url to get to the lander, then click "back" - and if you can get to the offer then you know it's working.

(Of course your offer needs to be reachable from your current IP - via a VPN set to the target geo if necessary.)
