Hello,
I just recently joined the STM forum, and am excited to start my journey into affiliate marketing.
I have a question for y'all with regards to mentoring and partnerships. I have found networking and mentorship to be essential in my offline ventures, and know that networking and mentorship would allow me to progress much faster in affiliate marketing than if I were to go it alone.
I came across an interesting post by user MrClean yesterday, who suggested that one of the better ways to progress in AM would be to partner with an established player and share profits with them.
"The only way to get the big guy’s skillset. is to partner with them. Promise to commit your whole life to them, sleep on their floor, and give them 60-70% of your profits in exchange for their guidance & they fund everything.
That’s how I broke in."
I know other posters suggest joining masterminds and networking before pursuing partnerships, but I'm just curious if anyone has pursued a relationship like the one suggested by MrClean? If so, how did you find your partner? Did it turn out well?
It depends...
It's the theoretical best way since someone would hire you and have the interest to train you until you can make them more money than you cost them, and not long after that, you might know enough to work on your own.
In practice, there are many things to consider - your personality, your employer's personality (some people just can't work together), the pay (it might be better to work a less relevant job and make more money than to be a low paid intern or so for a bigger affiliate), your risk tolerance, your ability to push yourself (if you are the text book entrepreneur, I think you are better off going at it alone in the vast majority of cases).
Realistically, this is not a decision you can have complete information on, and it's generally infinitely better than doing nothing. Just take whatever path asap and you will figure it out yourself in less than a year if you really are dedicated. If you can't figure this out in a year, then your chances of success as an affiliate are quite low anyway, so it tells you to pursue something else.
Thanks for the feedback!
