Idea: Starting a store non English geo?

Hey guys!

Never did ecom, but I was curious, what do you think about starting an ecom store in a non-english speaking geo such as france for example?
There seems to be much competition on US, but I was thinking if someone speaks that language he'll have less competition advertising on facebook?

what are your thoughts on this? Any success stories of non-en ecom stores?

Thanks!

Don’t ask us man. Ask the spy tools. If you see people advertising the products it’s probably working.

Also, I never worry about competition or saturation on FB. If an ad’s not working, it’s 100% because it either sucks, or your targeting sucks. Competition is only proof it’s working. Nothing else.

For sure start in your native language. Don’t get fancy. You have to make 100 different ads & test 2 dozen landers to find a monster.

wow that's some really good advice thank you MrClean, yeah I'll start in my native language.

I'd still love to hear other opinions on the subject

This is the case with virtually any new vertical - it usually starts in tier 1 geos, US is pretty much always the leader ... then it spreads to the other GEOs. In the past, US always dominated at first, these days EU can catch up pretty quickly. But generally speaking, if you see something is already facing saturation in the US, it is still working in other GEOs. Speaking the language on a native level is usually an advantage too, it gives you some egde as you can use local slang or generally relate to locals better.

Are you French? If so, then sure, go for it.

If not, then you will probably find yourself at a disadvantage.

Never be afraid of competition, it's where money is being made. Smash them!
