AWS S3, Landing page, domain name, offer page - before i create.......

Hi seniors,

so i've been reading stuffs about AWS S3, Landing page, domain name, offer page. Here are the few links.

my question is, what is the difference if I were to use other hosting, e.g. bluehost. creating landing pages with wordpress (they have mobile optimised plugins), and linking them to the offer pages?

What are the foreseeable troubles / problems ahead if this is done differently?

Hey,

If you have one dedicated host, you will have a tougher time scaling your setup, while something like S3 + CloudFront is auto-scalable.

Aside from that, location also matters, it's already distributed all over the world with CloudFront while with one VPS or so, you have to set up more yourself, add a separate CDN, etc.

Finally, WordPress absolutely sucks for speed. You need very bare landers for most things, just text, images and links. WordPress is a huge system in the back that has a huge number of bottlenecks when it comes to performance.

Cheers,
Manu.

I see, thanks manu_adefy.

How about domain name? Do we need to buy them? I read somewhere in this forum that it doesn't matter what it ends with, doesn't have to be a .com, and it can be as cheap as less than $1.

The tutorial above didn't mention about purchasing domain name though. I literally followed step by step. . . .

Yeah, you have to buy that separately. There are many domains for <$1 per year nowadays. Namecheap is a pretty decent place to look for discounted domains.
