Retargeting side of video ads (the secret sauce)

Hey guys,

Going through a course by one of the top players in eCom and I found some tactical info on video ads that you guys might find really useful. It's stated that this is the secret sauce because most of your money will be made from your retargeting ads.

Hope some of you guys will get some value out of this:

Definitely some things to try out, but I would recommend testing all of these statements for your own audience and products.

Very very interesting numbers.
May I please mention my view and my redults on this 'video revolution' subject?
I had researched few months into possibility of video implementation in marketing.
My opinion as a 'film director' is that there won't be any video revolution anytime soon. Technology is not in place, marketers r not ready to adopt! I am saying this because John Crestani from the forum was venturing into 'video'and i understand he encountered technical problems. He is successfully using a mix of it however!

But lets develop a bit...
I assume ur ads would ideally look like those bmw ads, with that tasty juicy colors and camera flying in the sky and helicopter shots or 10 girls in heals playing with your Tactical Flashlight available for 14.99 in your Shopify. Right?

It is technically challenging because making any 24fps video without learning pro editing softwere like premiere/final cut/avid/sony vegas, is like making posters and graphics without photoshop. They will look questionable and on none will spend time on them. Your videos would have to look at least like amateur vlogs. So u need to learn premiere.

Then u have to have:
You'll need:
Camera (pro lvl= few thousands. Forget 1080p! maybe some high end 4k dslr)
lenses (generally more expensive than camera)
tripods
lights
microphones +

Learning video editing with Adobe is a whole manual.
Learning Color corection.
Learning After Effects.
SFX cos ur ideal ad will have planes and stuff u cant afford to shoot in real life, cos that what ads are! Illusion!

After this all, the obvious knowledge. Video Plugins, file output extension, incompatibility problems, exporting formats, codecs. All in all, 2-3 days full days for one ad.

Due to the effort of filming you will call yourself filmmaker rather than affiliate.

After 3 yrs of working in film and 3 more years of film school, i have made 1 ad. Because they are the most tricky to shoot and the creative concept has to be spot on. Image has to be cristal clear and the creative concept extremely articulated and universally understood. Look at any commercial ad from corner to corner and compare it with some wedding footage!!

Now imagine that wedding photographer has some experience(3+ yrs) and not the cheapest camera, +knows all the above, at least should be! altho he can do it, AM definately can. but i dont know if it is profitable.

As a filmmaker i dont think video ads will be something feasible at least untill AI, when you can talk to ur pc and ask it to generate you what u need.
Seems like a long way from here...

But! Like I said average wedding photographer knows premiere and some of this stuff you could pull it off with enough determination. I encourage everyone to watch few hours of tutorials and try out premiere/final cut(- they r the standard used by major industry professionals. all these software do exactly same thing. AVID is the best and Sony is inferior!) Premiere however is a fantastic software and will completely change the way you look at video! Peronsally, when i shoot or edit, i dont feel time passing! It's such awesome and such a rewarding feeling to have complete power and liberty over your video knowing you can if u want to put in the middle of the video three giant boobs which can explode with blue flames...idk this was an example.

Alternative to videos however is animations and power point. But who wants to watch a powerpoint? If all affiliates will jump onto those animations(imagine that!) There will be a whole trend of questionable animations trying to sell you stuff.(sry guys please dont take it as offence but i really hundreds of people running ads and milions of impressions and if the quality is too doggy, people will reject it...i think. It would be massive thing when it happens ...

However i think this setup today. Words + video, will stay around for long time. People will want to see the whole landing page, to go back and forth between the lines of your columns, highlighting with cursor words from your page. Opening multiple windows.
Text + video on your landing page (player like, the floating player from facebook, when u scroll but the video keeps playing) i think would be a kiler, tho!

I would be really happy to get a solution for video ads. But without scheduling a short film. Cos that's exhausting.
What else did u found about video. How's your 'sorce' producing video?
