Creating Unpublished Page Posts via Business Manager then Boosting with Power Editor

I have always worked with Facebook Ads using the Ads Manager and Power Editor. I recently checked out the videos fbqueen created for the AMC course where she recommends creating page posts from within Business Manager, noting down the post ID, then "boosting" the post via Power Editor rather than creating an ad in Power Editor.

This makes good sense, i.e. to carry over engagement signals, however, upon trying to create "Page Posts" from within Business Manager, I noticed Facebook no longer allows one to add a link headline, display link, description and picture. Now, one can only add the URL, Post Text and a call to action button.

For those of you who have used the same process, are you noticing the same thing? Are we now forced to create ads through the Ads Manager and Power Editor?

I'm still creating ads through the Page Posts section - just creating a photo post then adding the link manually in the text.

You may be looking at Link Posts only - other forms of post can also be used for ads.

Thanks for the reply caurmen.

I did notice that a photo post can still be created and understand that a link can be manually added in the text; however, I no longer see the option to add a link headline, display link, and description (similar to a normal Facebook Ad). It seems that the link post options have changed within Business Manager.

This said, I'm unsure if using the Ads Manager or Power Editor is the only way now to create ads that include the text, link headline, display link, description and photo.

You checked the Creative Hub mockup option?

Here’s a secret trick that will drop your CPA by a lot and make your account last longer.

Create a separate post engagement campaign promoting the same page post ID and target India for like $20 on mobile only.

Doing this will give your ad a shit ton of Social Proof for cheap, giving you more sales, and it dilutes any negative feedback in a sea of positive Indian feedback.

Hi convactory,

Thanks for the reply. I did try the Creative Hub option, but it doesn't allow me to export the mockups to any ad accounts. Perhaps there is an option to do so, but I can't seem to find this. The hub just seems to allow one to create mockups and share them for approval.

Yep, that's a good trick to get a pile of social proof on the post. Targeting "Worldwide" if your account allows that gives much the same result.

Nice trick - thanks for sharing!

And India isn't the only cheap geo - can also experiement with other geos. Some geos just have people that will engage with anything - perfect to target when you're wanting to build up social proof.

And how do you know if you have enough social signals? When you run your "real" money campaign, if your CPC is still high, then that means your account's quality score isn't good enough - in which case you can try running that post engagement camp some more (or setting up another, more attractive post engagement camp) to gather more social signals, and/or use other tricks to get FB to assign more trust to your account.

yeah you are right, creating unpublished post does not allow you to change or even add headline, description or link. Seems like facebook broke this feature, creating an ad through Creative Hub could work but it is much more time consuming process!!

Yes, they removed these options and its a bit annoying, but it does not affect your ability to change these in ad units.

So, go create a basic ad in the power editor with the details you want. Upload it. This will create the post as usual and it should appear in the page posts area.

Now you can proceed as planned and create other ads using the same post ID -- by either selecting it from the list or entering the ID.
