First Green Campaigns - What We Did
Hey guys,
First off just want to give a big thanks to the STM community. Have asked some questions here in the programming and tracking areas and have gotten very fast responses. My biz partner and I operate out of a Saigon coworking space (anyone around? say hi!). We started our mobile pop journey a couple weeks ago and it's been both fun and frustrating! Want to thank Mr. Payne as I did a call with him regarding coaching and he told me we'd be better off figuring out how Voluum works and running some campaigns before investing in his services, so that's what we're doin! Today we hit our first green campaigns and thought we'd share a bit of that journey.
What we did:
We followed the first part of a follow along from "deetei" here: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...lenge-Accepted
Basically, just looked at Mobidea's "Opportunities" section where you can sort by country/carrier and see what kind of 'general' conversion rates and revenues are running through them. We grabbed some of the top performing carriers that had volume and then ran carrier campaigns in Propeller Ads to Mobidea's monitizer. After a day or two we saw a very promising carrier that was converting, and then decided to find some offers for that carrier to see if we could get better roi.
We then ran a DL campaign to each offer and found two placements for that carrier that were working well with the offer. We setup a separate campaign for each placement and here are the results so far:

Not bad for our first green campaigns! Volume is not that high, so not sure if this can be scaled. If anyone has suggestions let us know! We've played with bids and actually found that lower bids converted better. Weird. Anyway, this was a huge boost for our mindset moving forward. Hope to have bigger things to share in the future. Cheers.

Great start!
Not every traffic source has a big inventory for each GEO.
If increasing bids and budget does not work, then the best play would be to search a traffic source that has a big/bigger inventory for your GEO.

Hi Scott,
Great to read your success story!
My business partner and I have also recently started our mobile pop journey and are also currently experimenting with direct linking campaigns to gaming/video offers on Mobidea with PropellerAds as a traffic source.
When going over your strategy a question came to mind:
You said you grabbed the top performing carriers that had volume and then ran carrier campaigns to Mobidea’s monitizer.
What do you mean by ’Mobidea's monitizer’?
Thanks!
J

Yup, this is quite a frequent problem, some GEOs are smaller and it's hard to get volume in them.
Besides trying more sources as suggested in the thread I'm quoting, you can also explore different traffic types - there are also banners and the volume is usually higher there.

Hi saigonscott,
Congrats on your first green campaign. I am still testing with DL method. Hopefully, I can find some gems like you and start optimizing a campaign.
Btw, seems like we can hook up with each other some days if you're interested since we live in the same city !

I think he's referring to Mobidea's Smartlinks when he says "Mobidea's monitizer". It rotates/optimizes offers based on the traffic's GEO/Carrier.

By monitizer I meant we used their 'smartlink'. When you send traffic to the Mobidea smartlink they will automatically show relevant offers. Just a different way to test the waters for new traffic sources. Once we saw a few conversions for a particular carrier, we then stopped the smartlink test and found specific offers for that carrier to test again.
Here's how you get the link:

Thanks Mutaloo! May try display in the future, but focusing on Pops 100% until we're consistent with positive ROI.
