Ok I decided to write this quick tutorial to teach you guys how to break up and organize long subid's in Excel so you can easily make sense of them. Unfortunately some networks don't allow us to use multiple subids (like Neverblue) so this is how you work around it. I'm actually not going to write down step by step how to do it but I will link two videos that will teach you everything you need to know. P.S. I learned about this during Neverblue's mobile meetup so I'm not going to take full credit for it!
1. Watch this video to learn how to break up a Neverblue subid from JumpTap.
our original subid might look like this: =JT_OPERATOR~JT_HANDSET~JT_KEYWORD~JT_PUBLISHER
once this is passed back to us it might look like this:
TMobile_UK~nokia_e71~games~ac4b7ixG2K0zvUAuIYhO51l obhQ
The first video will show you how to take the subid that was passed back to us and break it up into 4 columns instead of 1 in Excel. The four columns would be Operator, Handset, Keyword, and Publisher respectively.
2. This second video will show you how to use pivot tables to analyse your data HOWEVER you want. You can see how many leads you got from which operator or which handset or which publisher, etc.
I think the only way this will make sense is if you watch both videos. They aren't too long and will save you a TON of time and headache in the future. Enjoy and goodluck!
Oh good 'ol pivot tables. How much I missed thee. Haven't touched them since college, but now using almost weekly, thanks 100k education.
You can skip step one by working with networks that support multiple subids.
One thing I want to add. A lot of people including me get overwhelmed with the data and see but if I cut it this way or that way it can profit so what do I have to block. The thought process is as follows as you analyze any combination of stats (ie Carrier and Handset)
Does it have volume? Y proceed to q2 N give it more time
Does it convert? Y proceed to q3 N then block it ASAP
What is the cr? Depending on the CR take that combination and build a new camp with the appropriate bids
Basically you start with a general campaign and any combinations that meet the above criteria get broken out into separate campaigns. Anything that doesn't convert at all gets blocked.
Easy peazy. Go get that money.
Pivot Tables. Wow...if only I knew about it before. thanks!
Pivot Tables where have you been all my life. I have so many applications for this. Thanks!
Pivot tables always make me confuse
I get high on pivot tables......sad I know
I think this is the best tracking solution, that saves your broken (by prosper202, CPA Lab, etc.) clicks.
