Experiences with traffic share deals?

I recently was in contact with a traffic source rep. They told me since one of the publishers have been doing well for me on their network I can enter into a traffic share deal for that publisher to receive a fixed 10%--100% of the traffic volume depending on what I want. The conditions are that I can only target popunder, and geo. No language targeting, OS, carriers hours and no capping. Minimum period of 1 month.

I only need to target 1 OS. So that leaves me with a bunch of traffic that I cannot do anything with. Anybody have experience making deals like these? Are these type of deals worth it?

*Edit* have no idea how the smile face got on the title haha.

Hello,

I've written an article about this, not so long ago, you might want to check it out : https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...u-Do-It-At-All

My article is about the adult landscape, but the core principles are the same in any area.

In the end, it all comes down to what price they will offer you and how bigh % of the traffic you can actually use. These deals only offer very basic targeting and usually no CAP limits, but the prices are also lower so it can work.

Read through article. Really when it comes down to traffic shares to get the best bang for you buck is to have an offer that is converting well broadly. I need to get in contact with the rep again and see if I can get an estimate of the traffic volume for my targeting and if there are any volume guarantees. It would suck to agree to a deal but then get a low amount of traffic I can use or get the same amount of traffic I'm already getting.

Thanks for linking that article matuloo

I would also ask for the wifi vs. carrier % (in case that's relevant for what you're currently running).

You're welcome! Also ask them about the options to exit the deal in case the traffic doesn't match what they promised to you. I've had this happen to me so many times, they promised, for example, 50% of the rotation, which should be like a million of impressions ... but in reality it was jumping from 100.000 to 500.000 from one day to the next ... and that doesn't help the optimization at all.

What mindfume posted is also very important - actually, if you are after 3G traffic, you shouldn't enter flat deals at all as 3G is usually only a minor part of the rotation.
