Mobile pop ads + AV (yes, another one..:))

Hi STM,

I've been dabbling around with AM for about 2 months now and after reading all the follow alongs and all the useful feedback I thought I'll try one for my self.

I decided to go into AM, because I have a lot of experience media buying on platforms like Facebook, GDN, native and so on (manage 25K+ a day) and I wanted to put those skills to use for myself. After trying a lot of things I ran into STM and there I finally found a good strategy to go with.

My first test was with direct linking - mobile content. That went okay, and I made 1K (ROI -20%, couldn't scale and the offer stop performing), but still nice to make finally make my OWN money online. After some research and a coaching session I decided the next step should be AV or sweepstakes with prelanders. To learn the game I decided to go for tier 2 or 3 GEO's (criteria for the GEO's: A tier 2 Geo of 30 million+ citizens where they speak a language that they do in at least 2 other tier 2 GEO's with 30 million+. So that are mainly English, Spanish or Arabic speaking countries.)

I've found around the 15-20 AV offers in GEO's that match my criteria (KE and GH) and that have a pay out less than 1$ (between $0,25 - $0,95).

It took me a while, but I finally ripped the landers (10 landers), set up the hosting and DNS and got approval for the affiliate networks.

For traffic sources I use WWWpromoter and Popads.

My setup: Adsbridge + aws (hosting and cdn) + adplexity

Yesterday I launched the campaigns (so far 2 conversions ROI -89%). I'm planning to run the offers until they hit their pay out X 5. If they have a negative ROI of -60/70% I keep them, if not I'll move on to the next offers. ATM I'm just running mainstream, but tonight I'll launch adult as well.

Aside my AV test I'd want to run sweepstakes. So my next step (this week) is finding good sweepstakes offers in a GEO that meets my criteria (as listed above).

My doubts so far:

Tomorrow around this time I'll post my first stats.

Looking forward to the feedback!

Hi there!

I’d say it’s pretty wise to start off with Tier-2 traffic and offers to get your experience. It might definitely save you a buck. Tier-1 traffic can get pricey, but again, it all depends on offers and conversions. However, I have to say that traffic source does matter when it comes to buying good quality traffic. You are working with good partners right now, but I would recommend trying different sources / GEO / etc as well.

Have you tried working with HilltopAds? We are a global popunder traffic network, providing traffic from direct publishers to our Advertisers ad campaigns. We have a wide variety of Tier-2 traffic types to match your offers. Feel free to ping me anytime.

And I hope that it will be an interesting experience for you, anyway.

Cheers!

I like your strategy! So much so that I have no suggestions at this time.

My doubts so far:

Auto redirect after 50 seconds. Is this good or bad? I have a very high CTR (25%+), but I think this is just bc it's being autodirected and there defeats the purposes of the entire landing page. I did read on this forum that a autoredirect is one of the recommended script for AV. Should I keep the auto redirects or remove them?
Should I move to sweepstakes or for the moment keep focusing on AV? In that case does anyone have a good recommendation for affiliate networks that have offers in GEO's that meet my criteria (basically English, Spanish or Arabic tier 2/3 speaking countries?
Should I analyze the adult and mainstream traffic as one? So if one offer hits the pay out of 5 x the pay out on adult and mainstream pause it? Or should I analyze this separately?
Regarding the auto redirect - if the visitor hasn't clicked through the lander, or clicked back, or closed down the browser altogether after such a long time, then I don't think the auto-redirect would make much of a difference either way.

Autoredirect can be powerful, as it saves the visitors the extra effort of clicking on the CTA to get to the offer - but it needs to happen at the right time. e.g. if you redirect them before they could even finish reading the lander text, that won't be good. But say you're running sweeps and using the spinning wheel - and you auto-redirect to the offer a few seconds after the "you've won!" message appears - that could potentially help CR. You can do your own testing for sure.

As for sweeps vs. AV - both are worth pursuing, but for AV especially, if you're not cloaking then you'd be restricted to traffic sources that allow aggressive landers. Most networks have offers in these verticals. Try the ones here:

https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...shing-1-Button

You can also go to offer aggregators like offervault.com and do a search to see which networks have lots of offers in your target verticals and geos, and sign up to those.

Adult and mainstream should be run in different camps and analyzed separately. Some offers that bomb on adult can convert well in mainstream. People are in a different mental state when they're browsing adult sites....

Congrats on a great start - and looking forward to further updates!

So here the update after the first 2 days as traffic. It's not going great, but that was calculated. See the screenshots for the results: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fg6zigbvw0...-2017.png?dl=0

They say you learn from your mistakes so I guess I'm off to a good start:

* I messed up the flow of one of my offers and redirected all the Kenya traffic just to one offer. It's fixed now and I hope the other offer converts better
* For one of the landers that got 33% of all my traffic I had an invalid click url... so all that traffic was lost (It's not included in the screenshots)

Even though some offers already reached 5 times the pay out I decided to give them one more try with a lower bid instead of pausing them directly.

What's next:
* I requested approval for some more AV Offers in the same GEO and I'm still awaiting approval for 5-10 similar offers. The campaigns are ready to go so as soon as I got the approval I launch them
* I launched some of the campaigns on adult traffic sources. Tomorrow I'll create more to test.
* Still need to look for sweep stakes offers. Didn't had the time yet, hopefully I can get around doing this tomorrow

@Vortex Thank you for the compliment and the feedback Amy. Coming from you that means a lot (I read a lot of your threads and comments on follow alongs so even though you don't know me I do know you . Might also explain why you like my strategy haha).

I'll check out offer vault first thing tomorrow. It looks great and like something that can make my search for new offers a lot easier (or just faster).

In regards to the auto redirect. I decided to set it to 60 seconds instead of 30 seconds. Some of my landers have a progress bar and that was barely finished before the autocorrect. As soon as I get some more traffic (and conversions) I'll start playing around with this.

Btw the link you sended redirects to invalid thread. I'd like to take a look at those networks though so any chance you still have thread somewhere?

Anyway, thanks again for the tips and I'll keep posting updates!
