RevContent Not Honouring Budget Limits

Wanted your guys opinion on this:

-- I placed a campaign on RevContent and set the budget to $100 per day
-- I made the noob mistake of selecting "all devices" and $0.40 per click.
--Within 1.5 days it had burned through $400 - FOUR HUNDRED - $300 more than the cap.

The operations team said it was my fault because the pricing / targeting was too aggressive and that the algorithm cannot get out in time to hit the cap. Thus no refund. That's a bit worrying as this could easily have been in the thousands on a different campaign....

What's the view here?

Has happened to several people with Revcontent. Even if you are on top and pause when it reaches your limit it might go a bit over until they pause.

You have to be careful with targeting, bidding and limits. Better be on top of the campaigns if you don't use any software for optimization

When this happened to me, I asked for a refund and they honored it... broad targeting can cause problems in large GEOs, but that's usually a question of running for minutes or hours max, certainly not 1.5 days ... I mean, with high bid and very broad targeting, the initial burst of traffic can be so big that they simply cannot respect the limit due to their setup (widgets are pre-generated for a few minutes, not in real time), but if they are unable to respect a budget over a longer period of time, it's poor coding or some error.
