Time to have a go! (13)

Time to have a go!

Hi peeps! I have looked at doing this for a little while now but never committed to it 100%. I've decided to take the rest of the year off to have a proper crack at it, starting now!
I am a noob so if this doesn't earn a profit, I'm content as long as I learn something. But obv. some moola would be appreciated
I am gonna post updates as I go, tbh it all seems a bit messy because I've got multiple things to do at once trying to get this up and running.
I joined this forum again because I have questions and no one to ask them to!
If you are able to help with any guidance, I would really appreciate it!

So, on the advice of a successful affiliate marketer friend, I am trying out Adwords traffic for dating offers.
Still setting up the server and lander, and applying for offers.

I got this from an affiliate manager;

"I have approved you on this offer, but before traffic starts, could you please explain your email opt in procedure, and send over a preview/bat for the planned send.

Traffic may only start once the bat is approved."

Can anyone help me with a definition here please? What is the 'bat' that he speaks of?
My plan is to make a site and have multiple dating offers on it, and when someone clicks on an offer it will go straight to the respective lander provided by the network.
Is this what I need to outline to this guy, and should I send him a shot of my site?

Thanks

Why not just send a shot of your site as you've suggested, and ask if that would be enough? That's what I would do!

Amy! Good to hear from you again!
Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a go

Ugh. So I was looking at imitating then trying to improve on a dating campaign here in australia. It turns out my competition has been running for years and very likely has this vertical dominated... I found a thread discussing them here on the forum.
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ighlight=zoosk

I don't think I want to try anything in this space after reading this thread, just because so many others have tried, spent a lot and got nothing. I don't want to sound defeatist, but I don't have a huge budget and I'm a beginner anyway, so I'm just going to go through Amy's Newbie's First Steps guide to get my feet wet.

Onward...

Following Vortex's Setting Up Your Very 1st Camp guide. First camp up, tracking is working properly. No conversions after 10x payout so moving on to the next camp.
Onward...

I'm pushing dating too, it's not like someone can actually dominate the market and get ALL the traffic. There are obviously some big players with bumped payouts, and it can get hard to compete with these guys, but there is still a lot of traffic left for the taking. Big guys don't have the time and resources to mess with low volume placements, they need to focus on the large ones ... which poses an opportunity for the smaller guys, who can still cash in on these smaller placements. Small volume guys can also optimize more precisely, because they simply have more time at their hands that they can dedicate to each small placement.

Amy's tutorial is still great though, you can follow it to learn the basics as the core principles are transferable - setting up campaigns, tracking, optimizing ... it's the same with any vertical or offer type. So definitely follow the tutorial, learn the basics and then decide where you want to go next.

Glad you're giving the tutorial a try! I like what you said - use it "just to get your feet wet". That's the idea!

Like matuloo has pointed out, there is space for more people in the dating vertical. You could say the same about almost any vertical actually. You don't need the whole pie - just a small sliver of it.

These days it's difficult to just throw up a camp and start making money right away. That tutorial of mine was written just to get beginners to take action. It IS possible to make initial profits using that method, but you'd probably need to go through a TON of offers before finding a gem. This will get worse as more and more people go through the same tutorial - more and more people all launching Mobidea carrier-billing offers for the geo+carriers I suggested, and all on PropellerAds...

So - a first step to moving away from my tutorial, would be to explore other traffic networks and aff networks (that have carrier-billing offers - ask your AMs).

Second step would be to start using landers in a chosen niche, and test a few geos. I still need to find time to write more lessons for the tutorial to cover landers. In the meantime you can go through a few follow-alongs - there's a ton of info on how to rip and test landers and offers.

Don't be afraid to work hard and get your hands dirty. As a newbie without experience and without any other edge, if you want to succeed, you'll need to hustle harder than other newbies. Choose a vertical and start ripping and testing lots of landers and offers in several geos. Weed out the junk placements that don't convert well. Investing in gathering these stats will help you to get ahead.

Just to save the OP some time, here is a list of networks (listed in no particular order) with similar setup as Mobidea (smartlinks, carrier billing focused) : kimia, glize/brokerbabe, bitterstrawberry, firstmobilecash (adult), mobusi ... monetizer/afflow (smartlink only), ytz(smartlink only).

Many thanks to both of you. I realised exactly that, the guide is not new so I'm going over well trodden territory. Hence the need to change things up once I have the basics down.
However, I launched five camps and one was green on the first day, so that was encouraging.
Luckily I've got all day to read and try new stuff. Thanks heaps guys.

GREAT to hear!

Yup that tutorial will still help people make initial profits - as you've proven to yourself. You can absolutely continue down the path of direct-linking for a little while. Just try not to grow complacent and keep walking that same path forever.

Hi guys. I've been running a few offers, just trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. I just have a quick question.
I've identified a Mexican source in Voluum that converts ok and is very cheap.
I'm running two camps there atm on zeropark. I've noticed that only one of the camps is getting traffic from the good source, even though the camps are set up pretty much exactly the same. Same bid, same carrier, same devices, same aff network, started them on the same day.
Is there a way to specify that I would like to recieve traffic from a certain source that you guys know of? Would zeropark respond to such a request if I asked them for it?
Thank you for your thoughts, in advance.

Yes there is! Simply start a "TARGET/SOURCE" campaign in Zeropark. When you go start a new campaign, then choose domain vs. PPV vs. search, you'll see that option:
