Help with AV offers - cloaking yes or no? (8)

Help with AV offers - cloaking yes or no?

Help! I've followed all the tutorials for pop up campaigns with landers. I finally got the right offers and the landers. I ripped the landers according to the tutorials from Ad Plexity. However when I asked my AM for approval he reject them. Said they couldn't contain any android or google logo's nor language like "you have a virus". Even when I removed those elements from the landers my AM still says it's considered blackhat by the advertiser and I should cloak them to hide them. My traffic sources did approve those landers.

1. Why is my AM suggesting to cloak to hide from the advertisers? Shouldn't they be the representative off those advertisers and protect their interests (or am I just too naive?)
2. What is the risk of cloaking? What will happen if I get caught?
3. I've selected the landers on adplexity for received most traffic. Does that mean the people using those landers are cloaking as well? Or should I look for more lenient affiliate networks?
4. Is it smart as a beginner to already start cloaking? I'd rather start white hat.... Or is it inevitable?
5. If so, where do I get started? I found a few threads about cloaking, but there not very detailed. Where can I educated myself on the topic?

I'm kinda stuck right now so I could really appreciate a helping hand

Thanks,
Bram

Hello brames

1. AMs are paid a share of the revenue they generate ... do I have to say more? In case you decide to take your AMs advice, make sure they will still pay you, even if the advertiser finds out you were cloaking.
2. See my first reply, double check about the possible consequences. Non-payment is a standard penalty - many networks will still pay you, just make sure to have it sorted prior to starting.
3. Cloaking is very common in verticals like antivirus and yes, many people are running offers from a more lenient network or advertiser.
4. I never cloaked, never! But I know people who cloaked from day one. The choice is yours. It's possible both ways. It's easier to convert when cloaking, but it brings extra expenses and complications.
5. Cloaking is kind of an underground topic, it's not usually discussed publicly, so you need to reach out to the right people

Matej.

This might also be a naive question, but would switching to https in order to hide the referrer from the advertiser work? Or can they find out by using spy tools?

Hi Matej,

Thank you for getting back to me!

1. Haha, makes sense when you put it like this. So how do I best go about this? Just let him verify over skype or is it better to get a written confirmation via email?

In regards to cloaking I'd rather stay "white hat" just to start. Especially because atm I don't have any clue how to go about it and I'm already learning a lot of other new stuff.
Do you think I have a fair chance going for the cleaner landing pages?

And any advice how I get in contact with the right people?

Hi Matej,

I've talked to the AM and they're not willing to pay me out if I get caught cloaking. Do you perhaps know any more lenient affiliate networks?

Thanks,
Bram

Spytools are very capable in finding your LPs these days, which is a good and bad thing at the same time https will certainly not save you when it comes to hiding your LPs from the advertisers ...

You're entering the grey area here, its not possible to tell you what networks will close an eye or two ... let me just tell you that the more volume you bring, the more the rules will become "bendable" in your favor

Okay thanks Matej, think I know enough just to start getting some traffic first. I'll build it up from there
