Weapons of choice? What are your go-to Shopify Apps?

Hello fellow Ecommrades,

Wanted to pick your brains for the top apps that you use to supercharge your Shopify store, do certain functions and optimize your shit.

1. What is the ‘best’ method for organising free+shipping on your store? Shopify doesn’t allow per-product shipping prices or to limit the max quantity someone can buy of a product, so to prevent people buying x2+ of a ‘free’ product for the same shipping price I’ve added minmaxify which isn’t ideal. Is BETTERSHIPPING the best way to go here? That way if someone wants x2 of a product they get charged x2 price of the shipping.

2. Customer Reviews app - do you use the free shopify app or something like Conversio a.k.a Receiptful? Something else?

3. Cart abandonment - the best app for this? Have been using mailchimp’s automation to date.

4. Split testing app of choice? Have yet to test one, but want one asap so we can accurately test theme tweaks etc.

5. Any other must-have apps you’d recommend? Charles Ngo has a decent list here - https://charlesngo.com/best-shopify-...mmerce-stores/

I've just finished writing the "Apps" section of the eCommerce Cookbook, so this stuff is fresh in my mind

The Cart Abandonment plugin that was recommended to me was the Abandonment Protector Plus app. However, I'd say the key detail with cart abandonment is that you're doing it at all - beyond that the tweaks are pretty minor. Any good plugin should do the job, and you can even just do it manually - I've got a consulting client who does that, and he gets a lot of valuable customer information that way, in exchange for a fair bit of time. Not sure I'd recommend that approach tg everyone - but it's still vastly better than ignoring abandoned carts.

Tbh I haven't heard any strong reasons for using customer reviews apps at all, but I'd be interested to hear arguments pro and con on that one. I'd skip them personally.

I'd say Aftership or another tracking plugin is pretty much a must, and of course a decent list integration with a mailing list provider. In the mailing list case, once again, all the major competitors are pretty decent - what's important is that you're collecting and using emails somewhere.

That list from Charles is great, btw. Some good ideas in there. I saw a store using Fomo just the other week, and it does provide some pretty powerful social proof.

Thanks Caurmen, appreciate the response. Not tested any split-testing apps? We are keen to optimize as much as possible and fairly as possible. Looking forward to more of your Cookbook series

My normal split-testing approach on Shopify is a line or two of Liquid code, or a second product page

I'll include details on how to do the code in the Advanced section!
