So I been running on a high volume spot on TJ, and I noticed today my CPCs were skyrocketing (like 40% higher than normal) for these banners I was running a few days ago.
So I checked my bid to see maybe whether I feel down the ladder and thus wasn't getting good session depth.
However on my bid I was actually in 1st position which surprised me (I'm usually 2nd or 3rd on this spot).
So I then went to the site and looked for my ad, to my surprise it took me 19 pages (yes 19!) to find my ad even with the top bid!
It looks like they may have sold off a bunch of the good impressions to some brand advertisers. (all the ads in front of me were Traffic Junky ads)
So at this point I guess I should just abandon this spot?
Hey!
It's normal that ad networks are having some changes from time to time, and it might be that the majority of traffic is going to some other place. You can investigate on it, talking with support of Traffic Junky, and also checking where do the first banners lead (by pointing at the banner and seeing the link in down left corner).
If there is no solution after all - cut this spot, although keep it for later, since in 2-4 weeks it might come back and work properly.
Hope it helps!
Yeah I guess I need to check these things more often lol.
I was just surprised that I could be one of the top bidders and be in double-digit session depth.
I guess you live and learn.
TrafficJunky is doing some weird things lately, pornhub seems to be the one affected the most : first the CTR literally doubled but the clicks were not going through the LP, which resulted in a general drop of the bids. Then it went back, CTR returned to normal, but the quality stayed pretty low. On some footer spots, I was getting very poor CTR all of a sudden too ... my prices per click are jumping up and down like a yo-yo lately, it's absolutely unpredictable ... whatever they are doing there, I hope it's gonna be over soon.
I also experienced the same as you described, despite being high in the bidding chain, I couldn't find my banners. But, since I was using a VPN, I blamed it for that ... seems like the reason might be elsewhere.
Yeah it's been odd lately, kind of annoying really.
For me I was not using a VPN and accessing a US site from the US, so I know that isn't the issue.
I guess we'll just have to wait to see if the situation improves.
