Trying to solve CPA Puzzle - Newbie needs help to connect the parts

Hi, I have been trying to study and understand affiliate marketing for past 3 months. A mentor had been guiding me initially and suggested to join stm for better understanding. I am super impressed with this forum and the information given here and the fact that it has separate section for newbies. Thanks for helping beginners who want to live this dream.

Well my problem is that now I want to start with an offer but I am confused and unable to channelize the process from picking an offer to optimization. I have very limited funds to start with so want to minimize my losses.

I registered at cpalead and for tracking at Adsbridge as referred by my mentor.

can I get a list of step by step process from picking an offer to next and so on.

I want to understand following:
1. Cpalead has graphs showing epc and many offers are showing 0%. so how to pick offers from cpalead.

2. which tier 2 or 3 countries are recommended at the start because many good offers on cpalead are for tier 1.

3. is it like this- pick offer> set up tracking> select traffic source> create banners and lp > testing >optimizing.
can anybody explain this through a case study or examples.

4. which websites i shall look for to buy traffic in beginning?

Its like I am unable to complete a puzzle inspite having all the parts. Kindly guide the correct path. I really want to make it.

Hey!

1. Most probably there is simply not enough statistics for that exact offer, so that the network can not estimate an average EPC yet. It is better to talk with your account manager, and ask which offers are recommended for your type of traffic, and taking into account that you are just starting.

2. Depends on how you determine the "good" offer. If you are referring to those with the highest payout, doesn't mean they are good yet. Again, the best thing here is to speak to your account manager

3. Regarding this point there is an awesome series of tutorials created by Vortex recently, you can find the first lesson right here https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...oluum-Version)

4. This depends on the type of offers you are thinking to promote, and which vertical is it. Normally Adult traffic is being bought on Exoclick, Traffic Factory, for example, meanwhile Mainstream on Popads, Propeller, Zeropark, etc. etc. There is also Facebook, one of the biggest (and strictest) traffic sources, and it's worth it.

I would recommend you to explore a bit more the forum, sure you will find all the information you need

Hey Thanks for your suggestions.
I will check with AM of cpalead for offers. Meanwhile i am starting the tutorial campaign which vortex has mentioned to get the hang of it. I was thinking of picking offer from India and another option is an offer for Egypt but I was wondering , will language translation required for Egypt.
which tracker is recommended Adbridge or volumm?

Yes, translation will be required - in Egypt there is no such habit to speak English as in India. And talking about India, normally Mobidea doesn't recommend it to starting affiliates, since the competition is huge, so even if the traffic seems cheap, you may end up paying a lot because of the bidding wars with competitors. Despite this fact, all cases and approaches are different, so again i recommend you to speak with your account manager regarding a specific offer, ask if it's performing well and if he/she would recommend you to start with it.

It depends on your goals. Voluum is the most complete tracker on the market, although sometimes beginners are confused with the price they'd have to pay for it. Then you might think of using Adsbridge, they are constantly improving their service, and have free trial for you to learn how to work with the tracker and decide how much are you ready to pay for it. We posted an article here recently, I think it will be useful for you to see these trackers compared: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...300#post313300

I would say, it is always good to speak to your AM. Don't be shy, he is there to help you out, so use it

@Mobidea - Thanks so much for all the tips and guidance!

@tanyadewan - You've asked some good questions. They're not easy to answer because there are so many different options.

First of all - which type of traffic are you wanting to run? Pop? Display? Native? FB?

Also - which vertical / type of offers are you thinking of promoting? Keeping in mind that not every offer type will convert well on every traffic type.

So - Offer type and traffic type would be the first 2 things you need to decide on first.

Only after that, will you be able to plan your testing + optimization approach.

If you're completely new and are at a complete loss as to how to proceed - then yes, my newbie tutorial will get you started (thanks Mobidea!) Later lessons will go into how to rip and test landing pages - stay tuned!

And of course if you have any further questions, just update this thread.

Thanks Amy for your suggestions.
I would like to start with pop and display ads and want to promote coupons and discounts first. Am I right on my decision?
If yes then do I start with tier 2 or 3 only?

I just completed all the set up of newbie first lesson campaign Network= Mobidea Tracker= Adsbridge Traffic source= propeller ads. I am waiting for authorization from propellerads.
I want know that do I have to copy paste banner urls or they are automatically set. If I have to add then how?

PropellerAds is a pop source. Coupons and discounts - could you be more specific? Pop traffic is very broad in nature, meaning your audience is basically the general population. So unless your coupons and discounts are for products that EVERYBODY has use for (e.g. groceries at supermarkets, meals at large chain restaurants), they may have problems converting.

As for banners - you'll need go to traffic networks that have banner traffic. For mobile banner traffic, consider starting with go2mobi. (Disclaimer: STM does not endorse any traffic network. Please sign up at your discretion.) Regarding banner urls - I've seen 2 types of arrangements. 1)The traffic source will pass a banner ID via the campaign url to your tracker. 2)The traffic source allow you to specify a different tracking link for every banner - so you can manually set a tracking token for each banner (e.g. bannername=banner1).

Let's focus on pop first and expand into mobile display later. So you're running Mobidea offers on Propeller? Do let me know how that goes - let's start with that and we'll go from there.

Hi Amy
Well I ended my first campaign because I couldnt get any conversions. and now I am working on offers from cpalead
Pop up ads are very competitive and generally people dont prefer clicking on them. What is your view on that?

It's common to not get any conversions when you've only spent less than $5. You may need to test 10 or 20 or 30 offers to find one that's profitable. This is why I recommend spending such a low budget on testing each offer, in my newbie tutorial - otherwise you'd go broke before hitting on profitable camps.

Of course popups/popunders are annoying and people tend not to click on them. This is why pop traffic is relatively cheap compared to other traffic types. But keep in mind one thing: Traffic prices are driven by the profits advertisers are able to make from that traffic. In other words, people would only bid as high as a camp would still make them money. So in the end everything will achieve a balance/equilibrium.
