John Chow and ShoeMoney's blogs not as big as they used to be?

Just FYI, similarwebs data is completely off, it shows 10 times as much visits for some of the blogs you have listed
It also shows more visits for my blog, but not so much, the numbers seems to be more distant from reality for longer running sites. It also seems to ignore the growth of my traffic, I had 3 times as much visitors in april than I had in february for example. What it got right though is my low amount of search traffic ... gotta work on that a bit.
Their data is better than nothing, it's a good way of finding similar sites, but I wouldn't base any traffic lists on it. It's just not reliable at all.

Cool thats good to know. I've always wondered about the accuracy. Ill make that clear in the post.
Although maybe not accurate, it's the best data I have found. I have noticed for smaller traffic sites that the stats are often skewed.
But for comparison purposes in my experience its pretty accurate way of determining what is getting more traffic and where it is coming from.
Would you be happy sharing real stats over the period. I can pull some more info if you want. Always keen to benchmark SimWeb accuracy

It's hard to say exactly how much off the numbers are, but if I look at the top blog that you have listed - charlesngo.com, which most likely would be the most visited blog actually, it shows more than 500.000 monthly visits so almost 17.000 daily visits

That's more like traffic numbers of a decent porn site and not an affiliate blog. The real number would be more like 2-3k per day on average - depending on whether we are looking at uniques or raw hits and also what traffic analytics tool we would use.
The problem with these tools is that they collect their info mostly from toolbar users etc, and that is not really a statistically representative sample, so the habits and preferences of the users can be skewed in one way or the other.

Sorry but 17k visits a day is nothing for a decent porn site! Do you know the real stats charles gets to his blog? I dont so hard to say whether they are right or wrong.
What about your blog - how many visits in April?

Hehe, I come from the adult side of the biz, so I know very well what the traffic numbers look like in that field

I used that "porn site" example just to demonstrate that 17k visits (uniques) a day is VERY hard to achieve in a rather small niche, that paid traffic affiliate marketing definitely is. Obviously, 17k would be nothing for an adult tube for example, but adult is not just about tubes, there are adult site types that could make SERIOUS piles of cash with 17k visits a day (review site for example).
I know traffic stats for 2 other blogs from the large lists, plus I know the traffic of my blog ... I compared the real traffic figures with what similarweb shows, so I could see it is totally off, especially with the older sites from some reason. That's where I got the "10 times more" figure from. The fact that similarweb totally ignored the growth of my blog is also a sign of inaccuracy ... Anyways, by looking at the data I have access to, I would be quite surprised if the blog of Charles had more than 3000 visits a day ON AVERAGE. Wouldn't put my hand into fire for it obviously, it's an estimate based on the data I have access to.
As for my blog, google analytics shows about 11k visits in April, the JetPack stats plugin from WP shows a bit more, about 13k. These includes repeat visits, so the number of really unique visitors will be lower.

Thanks for that. So SimWeb is about double ?
Its showing 23k unique visitors with about 59k visits in total for April.
Of course GA and the like will not show users with Adblock on?
11% average in 2016, but maybe lower (or higher) for AMs

Doesn't seem to ignore it unless it got it wrong? It shows you doubled traffic from Jan - April. Do you see the same?
lastly what about the top pages in April - how accurate is that?

I can confirm that similarweb is often off, especially on small traffic.
Still, humbled to appear in the list amongst the big boys
Merci!
