Hi guys, just gonna try to keep this simple and straight to the point. I was running Travel with Adwords up until very recently, it seems my call quality drops as I scale, putting an IVR on the calls would increase quality but then my ROI would drop to 5% and I might as well just be working at McDonalds with that. So i'm trying to generate cheaper calls from PPV.
I've already done some prelim testing, and I figure i'm going to try to generate calls from chatting with prospective clients. Collecting email leads then sending them numbers to call might be too long of a process for people looking to book immediately, and Bots have a field day with my call CTA buttons. This is the best thing I can come up with, even though it will take more manual work.
This is how the landing page looks right now, probably just gonna replace the call button with a "Chat Us" button.
I'm sorry for the large images, i'm not sure how to use spoilers here.

I have HotJar on my page to track how visitors are using it, these are a few recordings:

I have a pretty strong feeling these are bots, how does a human being spend 5 minutes on a page just scrolling up and down without clicking anything?
Anyway, I have a sample size of about 40 recordings with HotJar, i'll go through them and note down any source I see more than once. Then start blocking them out from the highest offenders. I have FraudFilter on this campaign but I guess it doesn't do the best job of detecting bot traffic.
Alright, Plan for tomorrow:
1) Research live chat software that can just auto launch a message, my current chat software requires a click on the button and info filled out.
2) Change "call us" button to "live chat us" button.
3) Run through HotJar recordings, block highest offending sources.
4) Run about $25 of traffic, cut more placements.
5) Unrelated to PPV, but gonna see how live chats work with other sources like Bing and Adwords. Click to website campaigns are cheaper than click to call.
Super open to suggestions, just wanna make this work. My credit card is feeling the pain of lost daily pay :'(
I took a little detour, I decided to try the live chat thing on AdWords and Bing, and ofc traffic is good, but very expensive. Spent $75, got 3 chats and 1 call, as well as 2 calls from ad extensions.
ROI is about -70% on that. It's not horrible, I think I'll have to focus on mobile devices and better keywords (taking from current call only camp) if I'm to make this work. I'll change my lander so it looks more like booking website and not some aff lander.
As for PPV, Bots really seem to have advanced a ways, I've decided to just cut placements if I get 250 pops and no chats. I'll increase the cutoff number if it doesn't work out. Testing $25 a day now.
Yesterday's plan fulfilment:
1) Research live chat software that can just auto launch a message, my current chat software requires a click on the button and info filled out. -Done. Intercom.io, shouts to Alex from FB for this tip.
2) Change "call us" button to "live chat us" button. -Done.
3) Run through HotJar recordings, block highest offending sources. -Done.
4) Run about $25 of traffic, cut more placements. ~kinda.
5) Unrelated to PPV, but gonna see how live chats work with other sources like Bing and Adwords. Click to website campaigns are cheaper than click to call. -Done. Over indulged.
Plan for tomorrow:
1) Do my profit/expenditure accounts, I feel too broke for the kind of daily profit I was making.
2) Change lander to match booking.com type of lander.
3) Run $50 split between Bing and AdWords with lower bids for slower traffic, and setup better tracking. Focus on mobiles solely.
4) Run $25 on PPV when I wake up with new lander. Give paused sources a chance with new lander up to 250 pops, others get 500 pops.
Pausing this till I get good enough landers to at least see 1 conv.
This isn't really working out, it's on pause for now.
