Hey STM-ers,
It's 1:30AM local time and yet again lots of strange headlines for some of my actual running camps are kicking in before getting off my desk.
As such I was wondering, at what time of the day does your creativity give you the best of your headlines / angles? Has anyone kept track of this?
Can we create a case study on this topic?
Ps. If I've missed a similar thread here on STM please refer me the thread.
Happens very often to me that before I got to bed I get loads of ideas - for posts, solving certain problems, things to test, etc.
I haven't looked into it in detail but it should be because it's a common time when I don't think of anything specific. Happens pretty often when I'm listening to music on the train or on a flight as well.
Basically, if you stop focusing actively on a certain problem and try to relax, you will get ideas since your subconscious is still "working on it". It was just my experience so far, and it's very anecdotal but there should be a seed of truth in it.
There have indeed been studies on when creativity kicks in in general (rather than amongst affiliates specifically).
Here's Neil Patel on the subject:

As for me specifically: I'm a work-in-the-day kind of guy, but I get ideas at all times of day. Evernote on the phone for the win!
I'm getting my best ideas during shower
No specific time of day, but the best ideas are always out of office ie. changing environment helps a lot to get some new ideas.
i use google keep to note the good ideas when they come , because they can come at any time .
Mine kicks in either after I've been working on something for 15-60 minutes, or when I'm exercising or otherwise completely off-topic (and engaged in physical activity, usually).
Actually it's just the good ideas that come during non-working times. Most of the creativity itself comes in after XX minutes of pounding away at it, often in a state of blockage and frustration.
In general, after dark is better. But ultimately priming the pump during noon (or whenever) does more for me than lazily doing it at night.
Lately, I've been getting ideas at night ... I developed a habbit to write them down, whenever I wake up during the night. I always have my smartphone next to my bed, so I can write it down, whenever and idea "wakes me up"
I typically do pretty well when I smoke a bunch of weed and browse around the forum.
Yesterday i was having a hard time going to bed and then around 6 AM i got a big freaking angle.. I'm still setting things up but i'm 90% sure it will work $$$$
