First mobile campaign Mobidea+PropellerAds
Hi to all!
I read vortex thread and decided to give mobile a try!
I followed his tutorial and set up two campaigns:
Videos - Kenya - Safaricom
Games - Egypt - All Carrier
Right now, I spent only 10$ on each campaign and this is the result:

Unfortunately, I didn't have data about where I had conversions, because of some problems with Voluum (I think).
Neither Voluum or PropellerAds tracks conversions, so I played with it a little bit and now I think it will work.
At the moment, I stopped campaign, even if the Videos offer seems to be nice. I want to solve the problem about click tracking first and then restart the Videos campaign.
I'll update you day by day!

Hi!
You certainly need to have working tracking - that's what helps you make informed decisions.
PropellerAds can track conversions by the way - still your main tool will be your tracker, in this case Voluum.
It's still great that you can see some conversions flowing in. Looking forward to your next update!

Way to go!! Stats are looking good - especially that first offer!
I've covered how to set up tracking step-by-step in the first lesson:
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...-Very-1st-Camp
Please go over every single step again, and compare against your current settings to find where you went wrong and fix it.
If you can't find the error, update this thread to let me know, and we'll do some troubleshooting.
Sound good?
Congrats and good job so far!

Thank you manu, thank you vortex!
I solved the tracking problem tweaking some things by myself, now it's all right.
That's the situation right now:

The two highlited campaigns are the one for which I don't have conversions tracks, so I leave here the Mobidea report for these:

As you can see, Mobidea isn't updated for the 12145 campaign, as I had 2 conversions there.
These are the statistics for the smartlink:

It seems Voluum didn't track a conversion, really strange.
By the way, this is the situation.
I had 4 conversion on the Kenya/Safaricom offer, but I don't have any track of these to optimize a little bit.
What would you do? I'm thinking about stopping every campaign and try other ones.
And I thought even to try again smartlinks, but targeting only tier2 countries (mostly LATAM), excluding India and Russia.
Let me know your opinion!

Okay guys, so this is my balance for today:

The "PropellerAds - Brazil - Claro Mobile Content" campaign has the best ROI I've seen since I started with pops (3 o 4 days I mean).
I set the CPM first to 2.34, then to 2.81, as I saw that traffic didn't come in.
Same thing for the "PropellerAds - South Africa - Vodacom Main" campaign. It is a smart link from Mobidea, targeting a segment that is doing good. I raised the CPM from 2.34 to 3.56, but still I don't see traffic, so maybe I'll stop it.
Here it comes the Zeropark - Global - MrPayne_Global_Test. I used MrPayne technic for Afflow/ZeroPark arbitrage, following also the guide of Vortex, but I decided to give it a try before reading all vortex's tutorial (I'll read it between today and tomorrow).
I have a HUGE problem here.
I set up the domain and it is okay. But when I drive traffic to it, then it shows a 403 error. I already spent almost 20$ on ZeroPark (as you can see) and I think I lost all the money. Did anyone of you had the same problem? Afflow support says it is all okay, but I don't have unlimited budget to drive traffic to a 403 page.
I feel I lost some money here, that I could put on other offers.
Next step is to put more money on the offer that had some conversion, to see if I can blacklist/whitelist some placement. By now all conversions come from Android, that has 902 visits, and all come from different zones.
What do you think about?

Nice progress, and glad you solved that tracking issue! Do you know what the problem was?
Regarding optimization of the KE Safaricom offer: You can try asking your AM for the clickIDs of the conversions you've made, and manually paste them into
Voluum to update your stats. But since you haven't made a lot of conversions, I would suggest to just unpause the campaign and start from scratch. That camp does look like it has potential! So just restart it and cut placements that reach 2x payout in loss.
In addition, you can of course set up camps to test other offers.
In addition to THAT, you can also test a smartlink. LATAM is a good choice, can also add Asia + Africa + the Middle East + East Europe. If you're going this route, I would suggest to set a low bid. The traffic quality won't be great, but the cost savings would be significant. You can also try setting this up on PopAds and set to "carrier/cellular", and bid something low like $0.0005/view. This is a good way of uncovering a few gems.
Of course, to fully test each geo, it would be better to set to a higher bid than the minimum required. These are different approaches, and each will uncover different gems. So take your pick, or use both.
Tip: Try Kimia if you like testing smartlinks. Mobidea's stats won't tell you which offers have converted, whereas Kimia's stats WILL. So when you run a Kimia smartlink, you can dig into stats to see which offers are doing well, and JUST run those. This means that even if a geo+carrier combination isn't in profit, one of the offers may be. But if you can't see the per-offer stats, you wouldn't find this out.
(Disclaimer: STM does not endorse any aff networks - please sign up at your own discretion.)
So - lots of options there! Only launch as many camps as you're comfortable with, and have time for.

Hi Amy! Thanks for your suggestions!
I signed up to Kimia and I'm waiting for approval.
Then I set up 4 campaigns:

Kenya - Video Safaricom Main
The one I hadn't track before. I'm testing it now with Zeropark instead of PropellerAds.
Mobidea - Global - Adult Smartlink
A global test with Adult Smartlink by Mobidea.
NL T-Mobi Adult Smartlink
I'm using the adult smartlink of Mobidea to target specific carrier.
Vortex Carriers
I picked up all Geos and carriers you mention, and linked them to a mobidea mainstream smartlink.
I've a question: why I see two campaigns in "draft mode", even when I finished to set it up?

Hi.
You can try to finish draft and add a source.

Hi, thanks! I tried, but nothing happened. I wrote to Zeropark Support and I'm waiting for them to solve the question.

That's really strange indeed - when you log into zeropark do you see the same "draft" status for those camps? If so, go into edit and see if there's any missing information. And don't forget to save!
Also - you're bidding real low for carrier traffic. For the global camp it's OK, but if you want to test the individual carriers properly, would be best to bid high and cut aggressively.
NL is an expensive geo even for wifi, and for carrier it's even more expensive. Payouts are high as well (relative to the lower-tier geos). So be prepared to spend more money just to identify potential (or lack thereof).
Excited to see results!

Thanks to j80montes and Amy! I was setting the campaign in the wrong way, the support explained me why I was wrong ahah
Problems of being a newbie.
So this is the update:

After campaign started, I'm having the first results and I think I'll continue to test the same offers/smartlink (apart from the adult smartlink, that I don't think works very well on Global)
Vortex Carriers campaign is giving me the first path to a better ROI

All conversions from the same carrier.
I cut off all carriers in India except for Idea Cell and Aircel.
I cut off Indonesia as GEO, as I had no conversion on almost 5$ spent.
As you can see, bids are different from the first idea.
Would you change something more in the campaigns at the moment?

Hey!
Interesting results you are getting. Although, why wouldn't you test some specific countries, according to the reports that we have already? I would go step by step, and LatAm is doing really good now. There are such countries as Chile (Intel), Panama (Claro), Ecuador (Claro), Honduras (Claro), Nicaragua (Claro) doing well in Adult, plus Kenya, Haiti, Cameroon look interesting!
But then if you are targeting specific countries and carriers, as Vortex already set, it's better to put higher bid.
Looking forward to see the updates. Cheers!

Hi! Thanks Mobidea, I just set up an adult smartlink for the Country/Carriers you mentioned.
I put a bid of 0.0005 for now, and then I'll see where I could optimize the bid.
Thanks again!

Here is the update for today:
General spending

Vortex Carriers campaign (Mobidea Smartlink)
Countries

A look at the sources

Update about the India conversions

Kenya Safaricom Campaign

So these are the statistics right now. I'm having problems understanding what to do now, because I feel I haven't many numbers to work on.
Today I spent really a lot, more than my average spending, but I received more conversions and datas too.
What do you think I should do now?
I think I have to test the Kenya campaign on another traffic source too, even on Propeller Ads (it was there before I started tracking conversions with Voluum) but it seems too expensive in comparison to Zeropark.
I'll surely get deep into Vortex Carriers campaign, as today it gave me some more satisfactions!

Very nice progress!!
You've identified a few carriers that have potential - try splitting them off into their own camps like you did with KE Safaricom.
For KE Safaricom: Cut targets that are in loss by 2x average payout - you'll find this in the "AP" column - just take the overall AP for the entire camp and base your cutting decisions on that.
Once you're cut out the biggest unprofitable targets, increase the bid by at least 0.50 CPM (0.0005/view) and cut another batch of placements as they reach 2x AP in loss.
Do this a few times, until you get to a bid where, even after cutting unprofitable placements, the profits are lower than those at the previous bid. Then revert to the previous bid.
If at any time, you feel that you've tested enough bids and cut enough placements and the camp is STILL not in profit, do this for a last-ditch effort (this is what I call "scalping"): Set the bid to one that you had the best results with, run that for a while, then once you've uncovered some green targets, just cut all other targets and only leave those running. You won't get rich with this method, but the green will keep you motivated hopefully, so you can continue testing more stuff.
Do try Propellerads if you have a chance. Bids are relative - a higher bid doesn't necessarily mean lower ROI - it all depends on traffic quality and conversion rate. You won't know until you do a test.
Another thing you can do to control costs: For your worldwide camp, try to identify some sources that have performed the best for you so far, consistently across multiple carriers, and only keep those running, pausing all other sources. You need at least a couple of high-traffic ones though or you'll be left with very little traffic.
You'll also have to bid higher to get more traffic from the remaining sources. The testing will go a lot slower, but the cost-savings can be significant.
Onwards and upwards! So far so good!

As always, thanks for the precious tips Amy!
I'll follow your steps anytime I'll see something to cut off.
Today I spent really nothing, but the total ROI of today is about -60%, so I'm having nice progress.
I've been accepted in Kimia for a test, and tomorrow (today, as in Italy it's 4 AM 05/04) I'll start testing their smartlinks.
Some stats of these first 10 days of affiliate:
04/25 - 04/28

04/09 - 05/02

05/03 - 05/04

Total stats:

I hope I'll have enough data to show you tomorrow! Things are getting sweet here
