Ive mentioned this a couple of times already in different posts, and heres a full tutorial on it.
What I will show you us how to get new targets for your PPV campaigns using the free data made available by ad spy tools.
You can use many different tools for this. But for this tutorial I will use the following:
* mixrank
* semrush
* keywordspy
Offer: Dailydeals type offer (groupon, livingsocial, kgbdeals)
Step 1: Choose your primary keyword
Just use your imagination, but choose a couple of single word keywords representing the offer.
In this case:
coupon
deal
voucher
Step 2: Find the top advertisers / keywords
Using mixrank, just type the keywords into the search box and let mixrank tell you the top advertisers/keywords for a keyword (in the domain)
couponmountain.com
coupons.com
couponclipsite.com
freshdeals.com
dealtime.com
best-deal.com
voucher codes uk (not relevant in this case)
gbk voucher
printable vouchers
discount voucher
Step 3: Expand using SEM Rush
Enter each of the above into the SEMRush interface (if you create an account you can do more searched)

First just check the volume in the graph on the left. For the first one in the list (couponmountain.com) you notice a significant drop in traffic. This could indicate this is not a great target.
Then just look through the list of SE and Adwords keywords and pick out the keywords that deliver most of the traffic:
jjill
coupon mountain
shutterfly.com
kohls coupons
fashion bug
eastbay.com
plane tickets
Step 4: Pick targets from keyword reports
then click through to the reports for each of these and pick out more targets. For example for kohls coupons:
Keywords:

printable coupon
coupons printable
coupon code
Organic Results:

dealcatcher.com
dealigg.com
kohls-coupons
kohls-coupon-code
Adwords Results:

For example
savings.com

Step 5: Get competing advertisers / sites
Also explore the Google and Adwords Competitor Reports in SEM Rush for the domains under step 2.

Step 6: Get Common Misspellings
Use the misspellings report from KeywordSpy for your primary keywords under step 1 to expand your targets further:

Step 7: Apply same steps with Keyword Spy
Sometimes keyword spy will give you additional data, so its worth repeating steps 2-5 with keyword spy.
Step 8: Get ideas for creatives/copy
Use the ad text / images provided by all three sites to get ideas for your pages, ads and popups.
