Success Challenge : Nitin22

Major Payne and other fellow member of this forum,
I am accepting April challenge of going from Zero to xxx/ day.
About me: I have some good experience in Internet Marketing. However in last few year got sidetracked and got busy with brick and mortar business that I created from money that I made online. However the itch that you have in online marketing never dies. Waking whole nights counting xxxx dollars - All that fun was missing in offline.
So last month I jumped back into online saddle. March was my first month after a break of five years. And boy it seems like I am total newbie. In first month I spent close to $1000 and made $700.
With this background I am jumping into field and accepting Mr Payne's challenge. I will try to follow all his advice and will keep on posting here my progress time to time.

I think I have a foolish question. I already have shared web hosting account at fatcow. So to host landers do I really need a CDN account or for now can I just use my existing shared hosting account?

For pop traffic you need a CDN or alternatively a solid VPS. Go sign up to use Amazon S3 and CloudFront, it's pay as you go and fairly inexpensive.

So now time for action.

Tools / Subscription:

STMForum, Voluum, Adplexity, Amazon S3 CDN
Affiliate Network: Mobusi, Kimia, ClickDealer (Applied)
Traffic Sources: 3 Popular Popup Traffic Sources

Strategy:
1. Asked AMs to suggest best offers that work with landers in my Geos.
2. While waiting for response, decided to start a few campaign anyway with direct linking. If nothing else at least this will give me an idea of traffic, ISP to Mobile Carrier mapping.

Work Done:

1 .From wikipedia got the list of 50 most populous nations. Put them in excel. Mapped this list with average bid and available traffic list of PopAds. Basically objective was to pick countries that have sufficient population, cheaper average bids and some traffic at PopAds. If there is population, my hope is other TS will also have some traffic.
2. Went through offers at Kimia / Mobusi and marked all countries that have offers paying in the range of 24 cents to 50 cents.
3. So now I have selected 3 countries in Africa and 2 countries in Asia. All have average CPM in the range of 25 cents to 75 cents. Good population and enough available traffic at popads.

4. Added offers for these countries at Voluum.

Next Steps:

1. Create Campaigns with direct links for these countries at TS1, TS2.
2. Run the campaigns with budget of $2.5
3. talk to AMs on landers. Talk to ClickDealer to approve account.

Update 3:
I will start with bad then move on to better part. I started testing direct links for 5 countries. Here is updates for first 3.
1. Country 1: In Algeria, there was not much traffic at both Traffic Sources. Got hardly 2000 impressions in 1 day with zero conversion.
2. Country 2: I tried 3 offers. 2 offers for carrier and one generic offer. There is ZERO traffic for career that I want in TS2.
At popads, the problem is in that career's ISP, carrier traffic is 50% and 50% traffic is others.
Here is report first grouped by carrier, then offer. Offer 2 is in green, but problem is at popads, cannot really target that career 100%.

3. Country 3: For carrier 1 tried 2 offers. Here is offer stats for carrier 1

Offer stats for carrier 2

Good to see green, but it is too early to call it winner.

Next Steps: For country 3, increased bid and budget at TS1. Created campaign at TS2 for country 3. For country 2, will try at TS3.

This weekend spent over $100 to try many offers. Majority of campaigns were failure. Out of all 3 offers showed potential.

Offer 1 targets a country in Africa.
Offer 2 is also another African country.
Offer 3 is a global offer. For four Latin American countries it has shown some potential. With some cuts, offer has potential to reach green.

Problem is all three offers are career offers. Though each of them target countries with population greater than 20 million, the available traffic is not that much. In 2 days on offer 1, I was able to spend $3. In offer 2- $4. In offer 3 - $15. WIth cuts it may come down to $7 - $8. So essentially each offer should spend like $3- $5 daily. With this little traffic available, how to scale up campaign?

Thanks for creating this follow-along. I will leave it to more experienced persons to advise about scaling. But I can tell you that spending $1,000 your first month, and making back $700, is a ton better than many of us did our first month! My first month, I spent over $1k and made back...maybe $100? I'd have to look through some old spreadsheets to know for sure. But it definitely wasn't anywhere close to $700!
