Time Range for Optimizing Targets

What time range do you use to optimize your pops targets?

I have a few low-volume campaigs that are running for quite a while already.
I often cut targets based on low CTR for a longer time period.

So, for example I could optimize them for the past 3 months, or for the past 30 days, or for both?
Because sometimes a target performed well in the past (say, in the first 2 months), but in the past 30 days it performed very bad. So should I kick the target (by optimizing for 30 days) or should I give it another chance (by just looking at the better 3 months data)?
Or am I just getting too sophisticated about this?

Low volume placements really require longer periods to optimize, but it's hard to say whether you should wait 30 days or 3 months. The situation you are describing, looks more like burnout or decreasing offer performance ... in this case, it's quite pointless to look at the past data, because if the offer is not converting now, why keep on running it? You can, however, assume that the particular placement/target was a good one and you can try to target it again with a fresh campaign.

I go by 7 day data. If not green for 7 I kick it no matter how well it performed a month ago.

I think I'll check the targets twice: once for the past 30 days, and once for the past couple of months.
I can't do 7 days because there are many targets with too low volume for only 7 days, and I don't want to keep "bad" targets just because of their low volume they stay under the radar.

Volume plays a large role here, with the smallest placements you often don't have any other choice but letting them run for weeks. Cutting the small ones by default isn't a good idea too, because in many campaigns, the random conversions coming from these mini-placements will actually turn the campaigns green

For low volume placements I'm giving longer time range, for high spenders/bad placements it can be 1 or 2 days.

Its hard to generalise, so you just have to make up your own rule and work by it OR play with the ranges and see what the data shows you.

Hi osmiumman, usally a good campaign can be performance good in the first 1-3 months, based on your situation, I suggest you use Newbidder Tracking, it is a Free tracker, save your cost and make you try as much as possible new campaigns, A/B test etc.
