Major Payne and stackers,
This is digitaldreamsmktg, reporting for duty! A little bit about me, as you can see from my post history and join date I have been a serial lurker. I was one of those people that they said not to be like, the ones who just read and read but never take action. Well, that all changed just a bit ago, I was a part of the most recent 6 week AMC (cohort x4 represent!) and have hit the ground running. I have done more in the past 6 weeks, than I have in the 2 years I have been a member here. The timing of this challenge just made perfect sense for me to keep the ball rolling and keep taking action, and I'm really looking forward to all this!
Always nice to run into members from the AMC cohort here!
Leaving my best wishes with you to subscribe to this thread - looking forward to seeing you reach your full potential!
Have fun!
Amy
Thank you Amy!
Update #1
Okay everyone I have setup my first campaign of the challenge and just waiting for them to get approved. I have it set up to run from 6pm-12pm in the GEO as well. Here are the details:
GEO: Tier 3 but has >50m population
Offer: Sweeps
Payout: $0.06
I am currently testing 3 landers: 1 is the usual spinning type of lander, 2 are a little more aggressive. I am testing 3 on 1 traffic source since that source is a little bit more lenient and just 1 lander on the other.
Hopefully they get approved and I will update once stats roll in. Stay tuned!
My questions:
1. For the sake of this challenge, should we try to stick to GEOs that are only <50m in population? Or would it be okay as long as they are Tier 2/3/4+?
2. Since the other traffic source isn't so lenient, is it okay to only run the 1 lander there? Or should I just run 1 lander on both sources?
3. Is there a general guideline for the initial bid? Or just do a low bid and see if the offer at least converts with low quality?
Next Steps:
1. Look over the offer sheets for a different GEO to test and set up another camp!
Hi there!
While waiting for your stats update, I'll try to answer your questions
1. We normally try to stick with the countries that are tier-2, and 3 (I think there is no 4), and in which there is not that much competition. We try to not send our affiliates to work with India and Thailand, for example, at least in the beginning. It only seems that there is cheap traffic, but in the end you might end up paying a lot, due to the competition. Tier-2 countries are good to start with too, if we are referring to this list
2. If you've tested this lander and you know it works well on one traffic source, theoretically it should work same well on another. Although I would recommend testing several landers anyway.
3. There are different strategies to bid, I've seen somewhere on a forum one, that suggests setting the highest bid, and keep decreasing it every 5 minutes, until you see the difference in traffic, so that you know what is the "golden middle" for you to not spend the maximum and still get the best quality. Or yes, the opposite way, starting low, seeing your position (if your source allows it), or checking available traffic and received, and increase accordingly till you reach the first position.
Hope it helps, and waiting to see your update
Cheers!
Update #3
I let my campaigns reach their $20 budget and here are my current stats:
Traffic Source #1 (ZeroPark):
Spent: $20.08
Revenue: $3.63
Overall: -$16.45
Traffic Source #2:
Spent: $20.63
Revenue: $1.65
Overall: -$18.98
Offer overall:

Traffic Sources (ZeroPark is one obv lol):

Landers:

So based off of these stats, it looks like I should definitely cut LP2. And then based on the peakconversion calculator, I should run only LP3.
Questions:
1. Now is the time I should start looking for profitable segments and start cutting unprofitable segments correct? Like OS, Carrier, etc.
2. After that is when I start cutting placements?
Hi!
Being honest, ROI of -80-90% is a bad sign, it is difficult to optimize such campaigns and in most of the cases marketers stop it. Sad but true..
But it doesn't mean that you shouldn't try, right? Focus on increasing ROI. I agree with your LP strategy, although try to make decisions relying on details of your campaign, and not that much on the rules, as all cases are different. In my opinion, LP1 still might have some potential here, and you are going to cut it early...
Being you I would already stop the campaign of another traffic source (not Zeropark), if there is nothing else to optimize, since it performs slightly worse. Besides, don't be afraid to try different offers/segments and different options, I am sure you will find a combination that will result in positive ROI!
Are you showing the data from both your campaign tests mixed into one?
Lander 3 is the winner for sure, so cut the other two. Since you are only running 1 offer at this point, your next step is to take Lander 3 and test it against as many same or similar offers that you can find. That will be the biggest impact and possible improvement.
Going forward, only show data like this:
Campaign 1 > Offer (or if testing mutliple landers show Campaign 1 > Lander > Offer)
Campaign 1 > Offer > Carrier
Do that for each campaign.

Update #4
Sorry for the lack of updates guys, still trying to figure out my flow and trying to launch camps a little bit quicker. Since my last update I was only able to run 1 camp that totally bombed and didn't convert at all. Today I just launched 2 new camps and am waiting on a direct link camp to get approved by my traffic source. Once stats roll in I'll post again.
