[TIP] 10 Strategies to Go Viral on Any Platform

I'm a fan of Medium.com and recently I stumbled upon this post which I thought would be interesting to fellow STM members.

Especially those who are trying to build viral content sites or just want to go viral.

Todd in his article describes strategies he used to get 2 million views on Quora, but he is replicating his success on different publishing platforms like Medium.com, Youtube and so on.

It's all well planned execution and strategy behind it and beside other things he also looks into specific unique features or advantages that the platform has.

Especially tip #1 and #2 is interesting and something the you should realize when you want to go viral.

Here is an example with Youtube:

Usually we wish the user's view will look like this:

But in the reality most of the people will see your content like this:

So the key on Youtube is having a DAMN GOOD thumbnail preview of your video, otherwise no one will click to view it.

You are in a competition.

I think some of these strategies can be transferred also into affiliate marketing.

Think about affiliates running the same landing pages over and over in a specific geo's.

You got just few short seconds to make those people do what you want.

Think about it.

Here is the list with the tips, but I recommend to read through the whole post.

  1. Determine what is *unique* about the platform.
  2. Address the whole viewing area, not just your post
  3. ASK for shares
  4. Use tested headlines.
  5. Try this formula: “Proof -> Preview -> Payout”
  6. Be timely
  7. Be timeLESS
  8. Cultivate curiosity at every turn
  9. Quote smart people
  10. Be transparent

Warning: This post has a deep rabbit hole and you may endup subscribing to Todd's email list (another thing to learn and deconstruct from this post)
