I ran across this post the other day, and thought it useful enough to share on STM.
Essentially, it's presenting a good way to ease people into sharing more personal information on web forms, signups, etc - including email addresses, names, etc.
Fairly obvious stuff in some ways if you've read "Influence", but well-presented, and worth a quick read.
(I used a very similar approach recently on a political lead gen campaign and it significantly outperformed the other approaches I tested.)
