IP range targeting, how do I do it? (5)

IP range targeting, how do I do it?

Let's say I have 100 conversions on one traffic source in a particular geo and can see the IPs that are getting the conversions.

And I have another traffic source that allows for IP range targetting like Exoclick.

How do I use this data to do the IP range targeting?

Do I simply load in the 100 IPs I have?

Or is there something else that needs to be done?

Thoughts/ comments / suggestions?

Thanks!

EDIT: I think I solved my question myself:

If you enter an IP into https://www.cidrcalculator.com/whois/

It will tell you what range(CIDR) that IP is within:

112.215.154.121 = 112.215.154.0/24

If you use the CIDR to list tool you can see all the IPs within that CIDR:

112.215.154.0
112.215.154.1
112.215.154.2
112.215.154.3
.
.
.
112.215.154.253
112.215.154.254
112.215.154.255

256 IPs within the 112.215.154.0/24 CIDR

The CIDR is what you enter into Exoclick IP range targeting section.

If you use /23 instead of /24 you get 512 IPs within the CIDR

/22 = 1024
/21 = 2048
/20 = 4096
/19 = 8192
/18 = 16384
etc.

I'm going to now create a few campaigns with my converting ranges and see how it goes

Also thanks to Marina at Exoclick for her assistance.

I'm not an expert so if anyone wants to correct me or make any additions to this please feel free.

If the traffic source doesn't let you target by IP ranges, then you can use your tracker with custom rules and sell the other traffic to someone else.

If I get a conversion on 112.215.201.159 as an example and I wanted to target all IPs in the same range as that one, Would I enter it into Exoclick IP range targeting section just as it is?

Or would I enter it like 112.215.201.0

Or 112.215.0.0

Or something like that?

I'm confused with how the IP range targeting works and how to take advantage of it.

Thanks!

PS. iAmAttila, neat tip, thanks! Can you recommend a service that buys traffic like that?

Richard

Exoclick's instructions are:

"Target specific IP Ranges:
80.25.146.0/24
172.84.102.25/28
62.145.21.145

Only valid public IPs and IP ranges can be added"

So if I had these IP's with conversions for example:

112.215.154.121
112.215.154.134
112.215.154.14
112.215.154.150
112.215.154.212
112.215.154.236
112.215.154.43
112.215.154.45
112.215.154.70
112.215.154.9
112.215.154.95

Would I enter on one line 112.215.154.121/95 ?

Am I on the right track?

Is there anyway to convert a long list of singular IPs into ranges in the format that Exoclick will accept?

So I think I figured it out.

If you enter an IP into https://www.cidrcalculator.com/whois/

It will tell you what range(CIDR) that IP is within:

112.215.154.121 = 112.215.154.0/24

If you use the CIDR to list tool you can see all the IPs within that CIDR:

112.215.154.0
112.215.154.1
112.215.154.2
112.215.154.3
.
.
.
112.215.154.253
112.215.154.254
112.215.154.255

256 IPs within the 112.215.154.0/24 CIDR

The CIDR is what you enter into Exoclick IP range targeting section.

If you use /23 instead of /24 you get 512 IPs within the CIDR

/22 = 1024
/21 = 2048
/20 = 4096
/19 = 8192
/18 = 16384
etc.

I'm going to now create a few campaigns with my converting ranges and see how it goes

Also thanks to Marina at Exoclick for her assistance.
