Hey stackers, I'm looking to pick up a couple VA's soon and was wondering what team project managers people are having success with?
I have been using Trello with my intern and like it but I'm looking into a more robust solution as I pick up more team members. I've heard some interesting things about Asana, Basecamp, Wunderlist and some others.
I know some of you guys are currently managing pretty big teams. Would love to hear your thoughts on your preferred team management systems. Cheers!
Asana.
Tried Trello and Podio before but Asana always worked best.
Simple enough to be able to use it instantly but with enough features to structure everything nicely.
Hey manu, thanks for the reply. How do you like the mobile app? Mobile functionality is pretty important for me as I always find myself getting new ideas, updating todo lists/projects and communicating with team members while on the go, during gym time, ect.
The mobile app for Android is pretty good.
I wouldn't use it as the main communication method though - it's good for comments on a project/task and it's not a problem to add yourself or others more todos but for more communication, I certainly prefer Slack.
The way I use the mobile app is to add tasks in an "in-tray" and then sort it when I have a few minutes to think where each fits, for what project, maybe for a different person, etc.
The Slack mobile app is one of the best messaging apps overall, not just for work. It easily beats Hangouts, it's less cluttered than Facebook Messenger so it kind of competes with WhatsApp in performance and then has the extra team functionality.
We really like teamwork.com. It has tons of awesome features, especially time tracking which we use a lot.
Asana's a good option for larger teams. Trello's still surprisingly useful for a lot of things even in small/medium sized groups, though.
Just an update: after some analysis paralysis I decided to go with Asana. It's a good balance between ease of use and flexibility and has more structure than trello which I was looking for. Has been super awesome so far for managing my small team. Def recommend to anyone who is currently managing/growing a small team. Cheers!
