Looking for a Mentor/Tips

Hi, I have been in affiliate marketing for a couple of years.

I think joining STM, is the one of the best investments I have ever made.

Just throwing this out there, I am following a lot of the senior moderators and seen the success stories.

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has time to be a mentor or guide me on my journey. I know everyone has their journeys and time is crucial. Just testing the forum to see if there are any out there?

Also, this is my first thread in the Affiliate Marketing Forum section, a step up from the Newbie Zone. I have read the guides, etc, got accepted in networks and just setting up LP's, etc, e-mail captures.

Any tips, besides the guides, to starting out? Just throwing it out there. I just wanted to post a thread in this section, to overcome my fear of judgement and see what people's or other people's thoughts are.

Thanks all!

Move to san diego and start hanging out with other affiliates

Hey!
STM is your big mentor to be honest, I recommend you to start a follow along and ask all your questions here. The best way - to ask a lot, to read a lot, to learn a lot, to try a lot. Don't search people who will tell you "how to earn $100500 in affiliate marketing". And don't pay these people

Just read all the stuff on here, don't be lazy.

Thanks guys.

@ johnaff
That's a goal to aim for! Are they all there?

@mrbaun
Thanks for the advice! Use STM daily! Will follow your advice!

Saw your thread about your success, it is an inspiration!

@iAmAttila
Lol. I know what you mean. I was just seeing, if I could study under someone. Like how Michael Jordan and Lebron James or the professional athletes have personal trainers or coaches. Just upgrading up into the affiliate forum from the newbie section :P
I know I got to put the work in.

You have to take it step by step and use the resources already available. Any good mentor will not be cheap at all, because a good mentor already has achieved something in the industry - so you have to prove your worth to them too by showing some results with the resources already at hand

Not to worry though, STM is a great place to network and learn. You will run into enough affiliates that can share with you.

I know that feeling right now alex!

And I guess, like mrbraun said, the best way to learn is to do and start a Follow Along, while STM is our mentor.
Best: more newbies will learn from that (win/win).

It really is hard for someone who actually knows what they are doing to provide 1 on 1 tutoring since they can make much more money running their campaigns. Something like www.6wamc.com can be helpful, although it is not 1 on 1 tutoring, it is much more group based.

Your best mentor can be yourself - trial and error, most affiliates learn that way. There's no short cut in this business, even if you have a 1-on-1 tutor, you still have to do it. Just select a traffic source and master it!

And yes, what John said - surround yourself with those who are on the same mission, I love California, there are so many like-minded people. My preferred location is Santa Monica tho

The #1 place in the world for business is America, and the #1 place for the affiliate industry is San Diego. I think San Diego (and southern california in general) attract a lot of lifestyle entrepreneurs because of the weather basically.

Hmm, now I just need to figure out where to meet these local affiliates!!

Oh maybe if I just click this interesting banner... "meet affiliates in your area today...for free!!" Free?! Now lemme just grab my credit card... ;P

In all seriousness, I didn't find any relevant groups on meetup.com ; maybe start hanging & working around some local co-working spots? Any other ideas?

Weather maybe, but they have good weather most places ... I think the combination of US business + not being "too American" .... it's very liberal in both business and lifestyle, where most places are one or the other. I.e. Spain is super liberal and a great place to live, but we have an ancient business system.

I'm in southern California a few times a year, but now not until Nov ... my wife is from Orange County so we try to go back.

Hey alexong123, what's your skillset? Maybe we can work together, I am starting off in this too although I created & continue to operate one significantly strong website and I'm a solid web developer. I just haven't been involved with AM or the AM community at all yet.

I was thinking the third W was "weather", but let's call it four 'W's and include both
