I have a facebook fan page that's getting good reach and has a good following. The page specifically has to do with gifts and gift ideas. I wan't to use amazon associates to make some money, has anyone had experience doing this? If so, is it worth it and can you really make decent money out of it? Also I've read over and over again on the internet that Facebook Ads and Amazon Associates will not work because it violates Amazon's terms, but can I boost a product video and put the associates link on the comments section? is this the same thing?
I think one important thing to note that Facebook dosnt like outbound linking from posts and can affect your organic reach. That said to get the best organic reach to your existing audience would be to post with out a direct link to amazon, it's best to post image/video and then comment on the post where It can be linked for the best reach
I think a problem here is that you're too many hops away from the money.
You make let's say 2-8% after the update of terms for Amazon Associates, while people doing their own store are doing much higher margins. Not saying it's impossible, but Amazon Associates is not something I'd build a business around with paid traffic.
Maybe if you do it to build the site, and it's also monetized with amazon native ads, but the main reason is to gather leads, build the site and get traffic, and amazon is just a supplementary thing (like Adsense).
We have around 5 sites doing ok on Amazon, but it's a temporary thing. These will either be flipped, or converted into something more solid -- but these are largely SEO based sites.
