Crucial traffic sources doubt (8)

Crucial traffic sources doubt

Here on STM I see that for newbies it's always suggested to stay with a TS instead of jumping from one to another in order not to start learning from the beginning and make the same mistakes again and again. But I suppose this is for traffic TYPES rather than traffic SOURCES (like for example jumping from diplay with Go2Mobi to pop traffic with Popads then to Facebook etc. without any important results).

I'm saying this because if I use pop traffic with Popads and I see by spytools that certain offers/verticals are working well or may work better with Propellerads and Zeropark it seems to me logical I should use them (Also this approach is often suggested here) even if I'm just a beginner with a few conversions.

All I'd like to know is if this is a right reasoning or if it's better to stay with the traffic source I'm using (Popads) and look only for offers and verticals that are going well with it.

Thanks in advance for any tip

Stick to the same type yes, and try different sources!

If you are trying beer for first time, you have to test several before you can say yeah I like it or not.
If it turns out you don't like the tested beers, you probably gonna jump to another drink which you like better. But maybe Heineken works for you and you don't like Carlsberg.

I wrote an article about this, couple months ago, check it out in case you didn't yet : https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...n-starting-out

@Stickupkid: I really liked your similitude

@Matuloo: Hi Matuloo! Yes I already read your article . It basically says to stick to 1 TS and 1 vertical when starting out in order to complete your knowledge about the very first settings (hosting, tracking and so on) and to move if you see that those choices aren't getting you anywhere later. But what I'd like to know here is what to AFTER the first settings and if it makes sense to change the ad network (not the traffic type) because your sources (like spytools) tell you your chosen offer types and creatives will work bettere on another ad network. Although you're not still in green or you have had only few conversions

Oh by the way, I'd really like to hear also your opinion to the question I posted on your thread HERE . Thank you very much

Hey Davide,

I believe our friend @Matuloo explained the topic really well, and it is difficult to say something new.

The only thing to add - it is really up to you if it is better to change the source or not, and your intuition. If you know what is converting best on another traffic source, you could try, but the main idea here is to not get lost chasing the best networks for your banners and prelanders. Easier to change a prelander and a banner, than a traffic source.

Sticking to one traffic source, you get to know what it can do, and how to make the best out of it. And if you are really sure it's not the best place for you - change You are the one, who decides here, my friend.

Good luck!

^ What stickupkid said (BTW love your analogy!)

There's nothing wrong with picking a big source as a "go-to" for your initial testing. But when you have a profitable camp you'll for sure need other traffic sources to scale to.

And even before you can decide on a "go-to" you'd need to test at least the few biggest sources anyways.

Another thing is that some sources are stronger for certain geos than others.

Also, different sources have different targeting options to suit your different needs. For example, if you need to target carrier traffic on pop, PopCash may not be the best source to do testing on.

All very good reasons to explore at least the few biggest sources for your chosen traffic type.

Ok, I know what you mean now. It's ok to move and explore more sources as long as you feel qualified enough to handle it, actually it's a good idea - as Amy mentioned, not all sources are a good match for every campaign anyways. But again, use common sense here and don't jump from one source to the next one without actually giving it a proper try. Don't spread yourself out too much.

Yes of course, it's not "ad networks tourism" .

It's only about finding the proper ad network with the proper traffic but of course I won't this concept as a reason to jump around
