Cost tracking propeller ads in voluum and testing campaign question
Hi there,
I'm doing the afflow arbitrage method.
I set up a campaign in Propeller ads yesterday and had previously just been using zeropark with Voluum.
No cost information is being passed into Voluum. Did I set it up wrong, or is this normal?
Also,
I set the campaign up with a $50 testing budget and 2000 limit per slice. It's only spent $1.21 and I can't seem to take it off test mode. Is there a way to take the campaign off test mode?

Hey Richard,
As for PropellerAds you have to track your costs manually.
In Voluum switch to the CPC cost model and convert your CPM to CPC, ie. if you pay $5 CPM on Propeller then you enter 0.005 into Voluum.
After this you will see the costs being tracked.
However, don't be shocked if it's not the same as there will be some click loss.
Hope it helps.

What we do is we do the transformation Erik mentioned but then also add 15-20% for clickloss, so say $10CPM we turn it into 0.012 CPC. It still won't be 100% accurate but it gets closer.

Hey Erik & Manu_adefy, I'd just like to clarify one thing
if CPC = Cost per click, CPM = Cost per mill (per 1000 impressions) how come we are tracking costs by CPC?
Does this mean we are taking into account that CPC = cost per 1 impression?
Sorry, quite confused on how exactly this works and the theory behind it

Yeah, CPC cost in Voluum means cost per 1 (ONE) visit to your lander, not for one click ON your lander

The way you set it up it sounds like you created a Smart CPM campaign where you only pay per conversion and where you don't use the CPM model and don't pay for impressions.
To make this working you need to use the nested postback for Propeller Ads in Voluum so that Propeller Ads get their conversion info back.
But for Smart CPM campaigns I wouldn't use Voluum anyway because there you don't optimize yourself, optimization is all done by Propeller Ads so you pay for events on Voluum you don't control anyway.
For Smart CPM campaigns you can just direct link to your lander with the unique click ID attached to your URL and then send the unique click ID to Afflow.
In Afflow you use Propeller Ads postback then so in case of conversions Propeller Ads gets the conversion info back and can optimize the campaign for you.
That way you would save quote some money for Voluum.
Downside is that as far as I know Afflow only supports one global postback and not campaign specific postbacks.
