Hey guys,
I joined an affiliate network this week that's focusing on mobile offers. That's great because they have way more offers in my vertical (sweeps) than other networks.
So my AM recommends me a few offers that I immediately started to test. I ripped some landers from Adplexity that are doing well in that geo and tested them against other good landers that have been doing kinda good for me in other geos.
I sent some traffic to that network and to another network that has a similar offer, very small tests, 5-10$ worth of traffic per day.
The offer from the network I just joined was a clear winner, converting like crazy! I was so pumped because there was some green (15%) for one specific lander and I thought I'd optimize around that lander.
The thing is someone at the network contacted me and asked me to stop this kind of traffic. I asked if the lead quality wasn't good enough and was told that I was the only one on the network with such a high CR (3.7%)!
They asked me to prove that my traffic was indeed pops so I sent a screenshot of my PopAds campaign and haven't heard from the network since.
My winning lander was the same one as other affiliates are using for that geo, it even showed up when I filtered the results with the network parameter. So other affiliates use the same lander for the same geo and the same network and apparently I'm the only one to get such a good CR. I don't get it.
Of course I stopped sending traffic to that offer and I'm willing to do what's necessary so everyone (the advertiser + network) is happy but they've kicked me from the offer.
I'm moving on but how do I make sure it doesn't happen again? I wouldn't want to get banned from the network.
They are concerned that it's incent traffic.
I haven't had this happen to me but if it would occur, I would say I pause and let them check lead quality (if there's some half decent lead volume coming in), and then ask to be restarted. It doesn't mean it will work but it's a reasonable approach.
Also, was this "someone" your affiliate manager? If not, get in touch with your AM and ask them to give you as many details as possible.
As outright what their fear is, how to avoid this in the future, how to prove what you sent is legit, etc. They may not always answer, but they will rarely do this by their own initiative. You have to ask for the information you need, even if you might not get it.
You should also look for the offer on other networks. It can happen that affiliate networks need traffic in certain parameters based on how the rest of their traffic looks to the advertiser. I am not sure what or why, but I know there are many sides involved in this side of the business, so some weird things are demanded sometimes... Like low conversion rates.
Oh, and furthermore, this is the main reason I test many affiliate networks.. It's not purely for the conversion rate. It's for the business relationships we can build as well. I've stopped working with networks that converted better on the traffic because they were hard or impossible to do business with.
The "affiliate" that run that same lander/offer on the same traffic source is probably the network themselves. That's why they kicked you off the offer.
Assuming it's a CPI campaign, networks get really nervous when the CR is above 1-2%. Which is total bullshit ofcourse. Ask them to check quality (KPI's) instead of kicking you off the campaign so quickly. I would skip this network, find the offer at another network, make a shitload of money on it, write a case study and send the network who kicked you the link. It might open their eyes for threating affiliates like this...
Send some traffic (5-10%) without prelander / direct to the offer to dilute the stats.
Or set the offer on the backbutton.
Or redirect automatically from the lander to the offer after a couple of seconds.
I'm always amazed when networks do this .... asking to pause until they check quality, sure ... but kicking someone from the offer straight away because of a high CVR ...
Sending some directlinked pops would help as sebastian suggested
Well guys looks like I've been kicked off the whole network... I was asked to provide some proof that my traffic was legit so I sent a screenshot, the person disconnected from Skype and I haven't heard from them since.
I can't log in to my account.
I was doing my part of the job to prove that I was legit and was willing to make it right but it looks like they chose not to discuss.
I mean come on, there was like 7€ worth of leads in there, it really wasn't such a big deal and we could've fixed it.
That sucks man.
I recommend to find the same offer on another network and run it there.
Even better - run in on multiple networks.
If it converts really so well, ask what is the average CR and try to imitate it by mixing up some direct linked traffic.
Good luck though!
Was this one of the big networks? Would be surprised.
Apparently Mobusi did. That's why I'm so confused.
I'll see if I can get in touch with my AM tomorrow and clear things up.
Mobusi is a legit company, you have a bad rep. If they would hear that he disconnect you from Skype for that it would result in a slap on the fingers for him/her - anyway we are also suspicious if something like this happens with a super high performance. But its easy to check leadquality or hold back a part of the payment for a month to verify rebills etc....
Hi!
I think we can help you out, and maybe get you on some of our CPI offers, we love high CR with great quality
