Advise On Proper Voluum Setup

Hello everyone!

New to AM and still learning.

I'd like to know on how to track which traffic source the conversions are coming in:

Current setup:

1 lander (let's say abc.com)
2 traffic sources
2 different campaigns (1 for each traffic source) set up in Voluum, however using the same lander (abc.com)
On abc.com, the HTML file contains the tracking link generated by Voluum for Campaign 1.

Since Campaign 2 uses the same lander (abc.com), conversions will go through tracking link of Campaign 1.

What's best solution for this?

Also, when people split test, do you guys use multiple domain names to host each lander?

Thanks!

What is the tracking link you currently have on your lander?

The outgoing lander url is not campaign dependent - otherwise we'd keep running into the conflict you're describing.

The outgoing lander url, otherwise known as the "Voluum Click URL", should look like this:

http://yourvoluumdomain.com/click

You can find this click url by clicking on the little gear icon on the upper right corner in Voluum, then going to the "Set Up" tab.

And it should be the same link on all your landers (unless you have multiple offers on the same lander going out to different products, in which case you'd append "/1", "/2", etc. after the link above).

Then, you'd specify in your Voluum Campaign Settings which landers and offers you want the campaign to rotate through.

Hope that cleared things up! If not please let me know.

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your response.

My current tracking is something like http://txxxx.voluumtrk.com/xxxxxxxx. It's the link generated by Voluum upon creating a campaign.

Should the Voluum Click URL be placed somewhere in the HTML?

Thanks.

Aha! I thought that was the case - a common mistake to make.

The voluum click url should be placed on the lander, for every link you want to direct to the offer when the visitor clicks on it.

For example if you have a call-to-action link that says "Remove Virus Now!", then your lander code should look something like:

<a href="http://whatever.voluumtrk.com/click">Remove Virus Now!</a>

If you're still not clear, please feel free to paste your lander code in here and I'll pick out places you should insert your voluum click url. Without having this link on your lander, you won't be able to use voluum to specify which offers you want it to redirect your visitors to, and voluum won't be able to track if visitors have clicked through to the offer, or whether they have gone on to complete the conversion.
