Question for SEO Experts - Quickest Way to Set Up a Small-Scale Affiliate SEO Site?

Hey guys -

What are the steps you would take to 1) research 2) setup a small scale affiliate site with the potential to generate $1,000 a month. I have read this can be done in a weekend, but not sure if its bs.

Say for example you have a product you want to sell that gives you 30-50% commissions - my thought is you would:

1. Determine long tail keywords?
2. Determine if you can rank?
3. Write XX number of articles with solid copywriting?
4. Wait for traffic?

I know this is not specific and I'm missing tons of things, but interested to hear what experts have to say.

Thanks!

Link building is still a very important part of SEO and that's something you certainly can't do over a weekend - rush it and you're done. The content part is pretty clear - research and write it.

According to the info I have, google now puts a lot of weight on "authority" status, once it determines that your site is an authority in some niche, you will get a significant boost in rankings. Which again is something you cannot rush.

I'm a strong fan of SEO sites built for passive income, even if it's to serve as a supplemental source of income only. But I believe it takes a pretty long time to rank anything these days, especially when starting fresh. Google protects itself against spammers, so it's not uncommon to wait weeks or months to see some results, some people claim as long as 9-12 months.

But if you want to take this route, start now, there is no need to wait. I would plan some kind of a smaller network of small sites for the starters.

I like to have a handful sites in each niche, so that I can add a new sub page for a brand/product/concept and rank it relatively quickly. However, I recently built a set of niche sites revolving around a single product group, which are starting to rank.

For my large sites I now want to tie them in with paid ads on FB and Adwords, which combined with SEO traffic and content/branding will equate a true authority site. So, a site where SEO is just a traffic source (all though a good one) in the same way Facebook, Adwords and Display (? which I have no experience in) would be.

Interesting! This is what I'm looking to potentially do as well. What was your process in doing this / how long did it take to start ranking. Also was it mostly long long tail keywords?

Well mainly because I wanted to do some testing, and my wife is a content writer, so I wanted to introduce her to the world of internet marketing and build her some online assets generating income.

They rank for mainly brand names and long tails at the moment, but they're climbing well in the SERPs. ATM they're doing $$$/mth per site, so far from a success story yet, but as they're built they require little maintenance.

you can learn a lot by combing through the details of whatever's on page 1 for your main keyword

look at their backlinks with ahrefs or other tools
look at their on-site optimizations
are they using schema? are they leveraging any google profiles?
how do they link to that ranking page from internal pages?

how long did it take them to rank on the first page? is there anyone that broke into page 1 over the last year (look at these guys closely)

All good advice above!

Thinking about the most literal interpretation of the question above (1kpm site, 1 weekend, GO!) from my perspective as someone who has done a fair bit of white-hat authority site building:

If I really had to launch a $1k pm site over a weekend, I'd probably spend half that weekend researching niches and needs. Looking at what's ranking now, sure, but also looking hard at what questions crop up again and again, what answers get upvoted, and where my target niche gathers online.

I'd also choose the niche carefully: looking for something where people are gregarious, like sharing information with each other, ideally tend to blog or post somewhere where they frequently link out, have specific problems, and spend plenty of money.

A series of articles or a mini-site which really hits the zeitgeist within a particular group can achieve astonishing results very quickly thanks to organic sharing, and additional manual link-building is massively force-multiplied by something like that. But it's a lot of work and a very particular skill to identify those articles. Even with the best will in the world, lots of experience, and a rich niche, you'll have about a 1-in-5 success ratio - but those successes can be far more powerful than 10x the effort spent on less targeted content.

There are very many successful sites using flytonic plugin. And I am one the fastest guys who can help set up all the required reviews, affiliate links and toplists with it. Got a set of scripts just for work with flytonic. PM me for some samples.

Also, when it comes to competition research, we're capable of expanding your keyword list from a few dozen to a few thousand. Also, depending on the plans of the client, we monitor all the backlinks (old and new) of the competition against changes in their rankings as well as traffic. Again, PM me for the preview of the report

1. Pick a keyword that has less than 10k results for google query --> allintitle:"long tail keyword"

2. Write a 2000 word blog post with keyword in H1, synonyms in H2 tags, infographic, youtube video

3. Make sure your meta title contains the keyword, synonyms in description <-- try to make this part clickbaity

4. Order social signals on fiver or something to the page

5. Build PBN links to the page until you're on page 1

^^^ This + send some traffic from FB. Now I change out some of the PBNs with outreach type blog posts, since they also send quite a bit of traffic.

justcash summed it up.

I would suggest getting expired domains with some high tf/da metrics for the purpose though, even for money sites.
Use SEMrush & Ahref for competitor and keywords research.

About content, focus on few articles with a lot of value, linkbuilding will be easier even by getting paid expousre.

Anybody want to setup an SEO mastermind?
