Taboola - Unknown site traffic coming from single IP/ISP?? How to handle?

Hi Guys -

Running on Taboola outside of the US, and for the first few days of the campaign I've gotten a bunch of traffic from what Voluum tells me is {Unknown} site. I believe its BOT traffic because there is only 1 LP clickthrough for 1000 banner clicks (way worse then other site average).

Additionally - ALL of this traffic is coming from a single ISP, and a single IP. In Voluum, I put the IP in the bot blacklist, but traffic is still flowing through. Also, this won't stop Taboola from sending traffic from this IP (I think).

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to handle this? Right now its just burning money for no reason... Is the only option to speak to someone at the source and tell them to block it somehow?

Yes, hit up an AM and ask to block the IP for you.

Don't forget to ask for a refund too, in case they actually billed you for that - prepare Voluum screenshots and send them along with the refund request.

Is this something they'll do? They don't just say its a cost of doing business on Native?

Nope, in case you can prove they billed you for bots, they will refund it. Even thou pretty much every traffic knows they sell some % of BOTs, it doesn't mean they all do it on purpose too. Many networks invest a lot in detecting fraudulent publishers and waive their payouts. I got refunds from a number of networks already, but you gotta have the facts to backup your claim.

Also : don't don't harass them with asking for $5 refunds either, or collecting bot reports from a ton of placements - that is cost of doing business indeed. But if you see a very large placement sending you nothing but bots like in the example you described and it's doing a lot of damage, then a refund would be reasonable.
