Upper Bounds On Traffic Through Prosper202 On Shared Hosting?

Hey Guys,

I'm working with a high volume / low CPC campaign right now and am using Propser202 on a shared hosting setup. I understand that once I start doing serious volume I'll need to get a dedicated box or virtual machine to handle my tracking.

My question is: when is that?

I wouldn't trust shared hosting whatsoever...I would be on a VPS at the bare minimum.

shared hosting is very unreliable..if another user on your shared host causes a high server load..it could kill your tracking/campaign. btw..how much clicks are you sending through prosper right now?

i would never trust shared hosting with my campaigns because it's always a risk that can cost you money. soif you ever think about getting a vps i can highly recommend StormOnDemand/Liquidweb (they start at $35/month plus $20 for cpanel and you can scale them on the fly if you need more ressources or Beyondhosting

and to answer your question when it's time to switch. it is now :-) maybe you'll save $20-30/month on shared hosting but you will also loose money because of slow load times/server overload etc...therefore a starter vps (1-2gb ram) is one of the best investements you can make if you are serious about affiliate marketing

beyond hosting.

unless you want to lose thousands of dollars and countless hours of frustration.

when it comes to servers. you really get what you pay for and as a good friend of mine said " HOSTING IS #1 " then comes tracking!

epic failure with share hosting, imagine you overload the shared hosting server which have 1000 users on it, who will pissed off the most ? you or the server admin, they will suspend your account until you response, a BIG NO NO for paid traffic.

Quick questions: You guys host your other domains and landing pages on the same server, right? Or do you keep tracking and content separate?

I'm with StormOnDemand at the moment and it's all on the same server, although I added extra static IPs for my tracking domain and a few others, so all campaign URLs are going to a different IP than my tracking domain. Can't complain about the service so far, no issues and awesome support.

You will get much much much better performance cf. shared hosting and you will save yourself time (time = MONEY!!) with setting server-side stuff up, e.g. apache/php extensions etc, they can do it all for you if you ask. Plus if something goes to shit, server does something crazy, you can be confident in that you can ring them or create a support ticket and have someone kicking your problems ass within a few minutes.

From what I can tell, StormOnDemand is slightly cheaper and is built around scalability - ability to add and subtract resources on the fly to meet performance demands. BeyondHosting starts out a bit more expensive (ignoring any discounts) but they can supply server setups specifically designed for the kind of tracking/traffic we deal with and will have a much better idea of what is most ideal in this respect. With StormOnDemand you are prorated to the hour or minute so if you do go with them and decide to leave you probably won't suffer much financially. Just my $0.02!
