The new custom tracking domain feature of CPV Lab, allows me to create all of my Campaign Tracking Links, Base
URLs and Pixels with a specific domain I choose, vs. the default domain I have CPV Lab installed on.
In order for this to work properly CPV Lab must be Installed in the Root of a Domain with a dedicated IP Address assigned to the domain.
Next, Login to my Domain Registrar (in my case Namecheap) for the domain/s I wish to setup as Custom Tracking Domains in CPV Lab.
Example:
mytrackdomain.com (CPVLab installed)
bestoffer.site (specific domain I choose to custom tracking domain)
Click “Add New Record” below the Host Records Section:
For “Type”…Select “A Record”
For “Host”…Enter @
For “Value”…Enter the IP Address of my CPV Lab Installation (Example: 1.23.456.789)
For “TTL”…Select 1 Minute
Login to your CPV Lab Installation and Navigate to: Settings, General Settings Enter my password, and in the Tracking Domains section…enter my newly created custom tracking domain including “http://” and then Click Save.
Unfortunately, it is not working.
When I try to test it the link is not working. I got the message 404 error like this:
" 404 Not Found
The server can not find the requested page:
bestoffer.site/base.php?c=194&key=x568fc57215b83204cc6bc518fb2d20 d3&keyword={keyword}&country=XXXXX&adgroup={AdGro u pId}&adid={AdId} (port 80)
Please forward this error screen to bestoffer.site's WebMaster.
Apache/2.2.25 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.25 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at bestoffer.site Port 80"
The only way that I could make it work is going to CPVLab domain's cPanel , go to "Aliases" and add any domains you wish to use.
The link will work this way, but I don't know if it will affect the tracking of my campaign.
Am I missing something?
Could you help to fix it?
