Need some help with Revcontent Advertising [Newbie]

I have created a slideshow article or 'listicle' and have been promoting it on Revcontent. The content that I am promoting pertains to top celebrities in bikinis . After flushing about $500, I realized a lot of the traffic is bot traffic. I started keeping a blacklist of widget ids to combat out the bots. Also I've noticed that ALL of my traffic was coming from the Humor category which isn't exactly my niche so I closed off all categories that I felt weren't pertaining to my niche. Here are some newbie questions I had:

1.) It doesn't look like i'm getting traffic nearly as fast after making these adjustments. In fact, it's almost dead. I've made these adjustments maybe 14 hours ago? Am I doing something wrong?

2.) I have targeted only U.S. traffic, should I open up to more options? I am only monetizing through adsense right now, so I don't know if it's a better idea to open up my borders, or will i just get a bunch of low quality traffic if i open up to other countries.

3.) For the most part i targeted ONLY mobile traffic, I just changed it to all devices. Is there any advice on this aspect of targeting for an article such as mine.

Thanks in advance, loving this forum so far!

As you have found you'll have to invest a lot to track down decent placements.

All my experience with RC is with CPA deals rather than your arb model (have you looked over diary of arbitrage over as nativeadscout btw?).

Out of interest what kind of RPUs do you see for a non bot user?

Firstly I'd try and connect with a good rep - they will freely share blacklists to give you a head start (these will still need work though)!

The humour category can be a bit harsh and I'm not sure of your target audience, younger males I assume? Maybe take a look at lifestyle, tech, men's lifestyle, urban categories. But again a good RC rep will give you better insight based on other arb players.

If your traffic has dried up you'll have to look at your content (how are your CTRs) and bids - bear in mind your in an auction environment bidding against others at an eCPM.

I wouldn't extend into multiple geos until you have nailed your process somewhat.

Finally on point 3 you'll find it best to keep devices in seperate boosts - CPCs are very different and at some stage you'll probably end up splitting by OS and having multiple boosts at different bids.

Thanks clickwork7 for your reply, we don't have enough data to formulate an RPU yet because I've been changing around my site so much at first. I didn't know all the traffic was bots so i stripped it of a bunch of ads and moved things around. After i blacklisted a few widgetids and narrowed my targeting, it has definitely improved quite a bit.

My only gripe right now is the traffic seems to be coming in super slow. I am guessing my bid is too low. I already increased it to $.03/click, but I think if I increase it anymore, I likely won't get a good ROI.

Also i am not sure what "have you looked over diary of arbitrage over as nativeadscout btw?" means.

I just contacted my rep, so hope to hear back from him monday (this was a great idea!)

Hi lifeoffmediallc, I'm new to the space and pretty much following the same path you are. Only difference is I haven't burned the first $500 yet, I have 200 left . Sent you a PM. GL GL

1. Your bid and budgets are likely way too low
2. US is the most competetive by far (we da best!), youll have a much easier time in other countries
3. No idea
