You know how when you're applying for offers - and they give you all these restrictions
Push Notification traffic: Yes
Incentive traffic: No
Facebook/Adword traffic: Yes
Display traffic: Yes
Adult traffic: No
Email traffic: No
Search traffic: Yes
Wifi traffic: Yes
What's the rationale and reason of restricting the traffic?
I mean I understand incentive traffic, but what about the rest - Like example sending adult traffic to sweep or PIN offers? What's wrong with these traffic if they convert for the offer?
And how do the offer owners actually check if you've been giving these types of traffic?
"Like example sending adult traffic to sweep or PIN offers? What's wrong with these traffic if they convert for the offer?"
Sweeps are full of sponsors, some are A-brands and they don't want to be associated with adult or shady download sites for example.
In general adult has a "dirty" name ofcourse and quality isn't considered to be good.
E-mail could be associated with spam (especially when email pub is using a certain brand as Sender).
Incentive traffic - User that came from incentive traffic means that they got some kind of benefits to sign-up to your offer which means they not really want it and probably won't be valuable users for the advertise
Adult traffic - Some of the advertiser don't want their brand been connected with Adult traffic. you can see it mostly on games portals
Wifi Traffic - Where the offer is one that the user beeing billed by the carrier (pin submit/mobile contact) than on wifi traffic they can't convert. they need to be connected to a specific carrier.
There are more reasons why advertisers will restrict certain promotion methods:
If they themselves are already doing internal media buying in a certain platform (Facebook for example or Google) and they dont want you to compete with them on their bids.
If they deem the traffic type to be negative (not only in resluts for advertiser in terms of conversions and value of users). For example - an advertiser can find pop traffic (or push notifications) to be annoying to users and doesnt want them to associate such traffic with his product.
Adult: Restrictions from the payment aggregator, bad churn rate, missleading, Shitty ARPU, Mothercompany doesnt want to have anything related to adult
