What factors to look for when choosing geos

What are factors that you look for when choosing geos for your mobile camaigns?
Factors that I will take into consideration of:

- Cost of traffic
- 3g/4g speed
- Demographics (age, income, educational level etc.)

Let me add some more :

- availability of offers - I preffer GEOs with lots of offers
- info from my contacts at affiliate networks - what works right now, what are their strong geos
- size of the GEO - is it large enough to scale
- competition level - tier1 vs tier2 vs tier3 ...
- payout levels - higher payouts require higher testing budget

...

I also consider my experience level with given GEO as well as my language abilities - can I translete something on my own or will I have to rely on a translator 100% of the time?

in addition to matuloo:

- availability of traffic on my traffic sources
- carrier regulation
- Average Income in the GEO, higher income often higher payouts and more offers

Thanks for the inputs guys.

When people talk about tier 1, 2, 3 geos, what does that actually entail? It's a measure of the level of competition, correct? But is it a standardized/official distinction or is it a more loose and opinion-based ranking system?

I should have put it in my initial post but are your inputs prioritized?

What factors to look for when choosing geos

@guppies what is the source of this list? Even though things might have changed a lot for some older lists I see that countries here are divided only in 3 tiers.

For some of the countries listed in T2 factors like connectivity barriers and economic development are quite different from the rest.

The inventory of traffic for that specific geo as well as the average bids for it.
That way you can calculate using the average bid how much potential ROI you could make with a specific offer.

I think different to be honest. For example I started doing some lead gen in geo A because a campaign attracted me. Started focussing on a good angle and optimize till you have a winning funnel/ad. Then I thought, damn, if this works for US..... and yes it did!

BUT, I would never come up with this up front, saying, let me try lead gen in the US.

The hot geo's nowadays are all in the middle east: saudi arabia, egypt and UAE are geo's that are still 'fresh' and where every campaign can work!
Also Nigeria and Kenya are amazing. Cheap traffic, high CR. Be careful and cautious about the traffic sources you work with though as there's a lot of fraud/bot traffic out there as well.

It's amazing how hungry surfers from these NEW Geos are, they click on anything It won't last forever thou, so get on it why it's hot people!
