Hi stackers
I am very new to affiliate marketing. I have done about 2 months of figuring things out, mainly reading STM and talking to friends who are already established in the business.
I started out following the mobile cookbook and ran one campaign very briefly on go2mobi but sort of abandoned the cookbook after being told that pops has more of a future than banners. So I switched to following this thread by Vortex:

Two days ago I decided on a sweepstake offer recommended by my AM. I set up the campaign on
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ecisive+voluum
I found the offer on adplexity as well and it seems people are running it as direct link as there is no outgoing URLs – am I correct in assuming this?
Also when trying to find all ads on adplexity related to my offer I tried technique no. 1 and 2 from adplexity’s tutorial as seen on this pic:

However, I am not certain I did the first step correct. The final URL my offer is pointing to should be the offer landing page, correct? In the screenshot it looks like they are telling me to cut off from the first question mark. Either way I am getting a lot of ads pointing to other offers – any idea why this is?
When setting up my campaign on ZeroPark I was surprised that I didn’t have to submit any creatives as I had previously done when setting up a campaign on Go2Mobi. After talking to ZeroPark I learned that I should submit any creatives to Voluum. The campaign id created in Voluum will then somehow contain the creatives? But won’t ZeroPark need to approve creatives?
So just to be clear: If I don’t submit any lander on Voluum, I am basically just buying ad space to put the offer page as a popup/under with this setup? And if I submit one lander that will work as the popup/under ad linking to the offer page – thereby in effect being direct linking? And I would have to submit two landers to my path in Voluum to have the traffic go: popup-lander-offer page?
I ran the offer with no creative submitted. I spent about 20x the pay out and got no clicks (I know this is far too much), so I think something must be fundamentally wrong but I can’t figure out what. The offer really doesn’t seem like it would benefit much from a lander and as stated above, I think other affiliates are running it direct.
A few quick questions:
Numbers (and definitions) do not match. Voluum shows 2,838 visits, ZeroPark 2,818 redirects and F5 2,517 clicks. Assuming these terms mean the same, what are possible causes for these inaccuracies? Also, F5 shows 0 impressions and 2,517 clicks – I guess they have an alternative definition?
When I find an ad that I like on adplexity, how do I find the matching offer on cake platform? All my efforts to search on cake has yielded no results.
Thanks for any help. I will try to keep this thread updated with my struggles.
Hello aoworks!
Let me help you clear some of the confusion.
1. Good decision on abandoning mobile banner traffic, it took a nosedive in 2016 and POPs are a better choice for newbies.
2. An offer is being promoted through a directlink in case you see directly the offer lander as the "creative" that adplexity grabbed.
3. When searching by offer url, make sure you pick the final offer url and not some tracking domain, that would explain why you are seeing unrelated results. One tracking domain can serve plenty of offers.
4. Zeropark sells POPs and domain redirects, so they don't need any banners. Landing pages are really to be setup within
Zeropark or any other traffic source will send traffic to your campaign url. Based on the campaign settings in your tracking, it will either redirect to a landing page or directly to the offer. What happens with the visit once it hits the LP depends on what the LP is coded to do. Do you understand the role of a LP and how they work?
5. Since you have run without a LP you cant get clicks, you just get visits that are automatically redirected to the offer. You will see clicks only when using LPs. Without LPs they have nothing to click on.
6. The numbers will never match 100%, thats the nature of this traffic. The click loss you are seeing is actually pretty low.
7. You wont find the offers in cake, even when you check with the same affiliate network. The reason is the offer url contains the ID of the offer lander and not the offer ID. Try to ask your AM if they can search by offer lander ID.
Hope I helped you at least a bit
Making sweepstakes work on pop is brutal.
The user comes from an shady environment, torrent/streaming/adult.
Now you want him to enter his personal information, and a lot of that.
To make it work you need to cut a LOT of placements. Then you need to steal the good placements from guys running sweeps since years on your traffic source. Not an easy play.
I could organize a meetup of guys who tried making sweeps + pop work, with at least 3-6months invested without any green, and the event would be sold out.
You can save yourself a lot of trouble picking another vertical. Two exceptions, GEOs with Pin Sweeps, or GEOs where sweeps haven't been run to death (e.g. think latam, asia if you can find a good offer).
Thanks for clarifications again. Going from banner ads opn Go2Mobi to POPs on ZeroPark got me quite confused.
@ Sebastian
I hear you. Do you have any suggestions on good verticals for beginners with low payouts?
