Difference between Pop Ups and Landing Pages??

Hi, I am new to the forums. I have a basic noob question. I am focusing on mobile pop ups, I have read many of caumen and vortex's posts which have been really helpful. However there is one thing that is causing me to bang my head against the wall.

Mobile pop up ads are ads which load a landing page directly within the pop up without the user clicking anything. Or do mobile pop ups load an ad which the person clicks on and is then taken to the landing page and after completing that page they get the offer page? So in method 1 it would be a 2 step process pop/lander -> offer. In method 2 it is a 3 step process pop -> lander -> offer.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

here is one article I wrote some time ago about POPs and how they are delivered, check it out : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...inition-1-POPS

To give you a quick answer : POPs is basically just a delivery method, it pops up a window above (pop-up) or under (pop-under) the current browser window and loads the destination url in it. The destination url in our case will be either the landing page or the offer directly (in case of a direct link) - so method 1 in your example.

Thanks for the fast reply. I noticed this in your Traffic Types Post

"I should also ad one more thing : some part of the POP traffic will be PPV traffic, which is actually pops launched by adware installs. This is a standalone traffic type, so Im not gonna get into it more here, it would need a separate post."

I am a but confused by this. I signed up to Zeropark and asked them what PPV traffic was, they told me it was synonymous with Pop traffic. But from your post I take it that this is because Zeropark don't offer the other forms pop traffic which are available?

Finally I have one other question. I have been using adplexity to find good offers/ads. I am trying to determine an efficient way to find the offer on an affilate network based on the information which adplexity provides. From the reading I have done I thought I could use offer id or the c=xxxxx value which would appear in an offer link. So when I review a redirect chain on adplexity I get something like this:

The value I have highlighted should be the offer link. This offer is from the aff network click dealer. However upon searching clickdealer I cannot find anything? Am I doing something wrong in this process? Is there an easier way?

Regarding Zeropark and their traffic types if you still have some doubts have a look on their videos on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/zeroparkcom
You have some brief explanations about traffic types and how it works there in general.

As for finding offers from spy tools based on tokens declared in the offer link, they are not the same. Most probably you would need a VPN service which bypasses geo filtering on network links and get to the offer page.

Hello again,

the PPV thing is basically playing with words, the definitions are not carved in stone so to speak. PPV stands for Pay Per View - so technically, POPs really are PPV and you could say it is the same. But, when using the term PPV, we usually were referring to traffic coming from adware programs that allowed domain targeting - so you could pick what sites a surfer has to browse in order for your ad to load. When the domains matches, the adware program would launch a POP with your url in it. So PPV traffic really are POPs technically

So yes, both the regular POPs and the adware PPV traffic are POPs, just delivered in a different view, which also makes them a different traffic type. I hope I didn't confuse you even more

As for the clickdealer example : cake platforms use offer lander # in the url, that's why you couldn't find the offer. Most offers have various landers with unique IDs, and on top of that, they have one offer ID which isn't part of the link unfortunately. You could try to ask your AM, I guess they can search their offer DB based on lander IDs.
