Quick Reminder: Try Different GEOs

We launched a beauty product in the US on Shopify using Facebook as our traffic source. All straight to sale, direct response. Spent $150, not a single sale.

We translated the ads and the lander to try out a less competitive GEO. Nothing else changed, still direct response with the exact same elements.

Result: 60% ROI straight away...and we haven't even optimized anything yet.

There are plenty of opportunities out there in non-English speaking countries. Go hard!

Great reminder thank you!

The same applies to many other traffic sources and verticals as well.

Also - although visitors from tier 2/3/4 geos may not have as much buying power as those from tier 1 geos - however, not only is traffic cheaper due to the lower competition, but conversion rates tend to be higher as visitors are not as blind to ads as are those in tier 1 geos. It's just a matter of finding offers that can provide enough perceived value to the visitor, that are in an acceptable price range. The higher conversion rates will make up for the lower payouts.

But in your case, since you're pushing the same product with the same price point, my guess would be that your new geo is also a tier 1? Even within the same tier, and even among geos where the buying-power of visitors are comparable, you could still take advantage of the lower competition in non-English speaking geos - as you've demonstrated (assuming your new geo is also tier 1).

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Gold tip!

I did some research into credit card penetration rates in different geos a while ago - and was surprised by how low they were for many geos. Same goes for other forms of online payment in general.

Those of us that live in North America especially, are so used to having a means of paying online, that we aren't aware of the fact that many people in other parts of the world either don't have a means of paying online, or aren't accustomed to doing so.
