Can I make money by building a sales funnel in a niche that is not my passion?

Hey warriors,
I hope you all are doing great.

I have very important question, the answer will help me a lot in my online career. your help will be much appreciated.

I know you are all busy so I will get straight into it.

Can I make money by building an email list and sales funnel in a niche that is not my passion?

I'm asking as my passion and the information that I know doesn't provide the end results. I love online marketing and making money online, but I have never done it consistently to build email list & sales funnel around it.

So I was thinking to build a sales funnel NOT around my passion, make money out of it, then after that I can build a list around online marketing and build a real relation with my subscribers.

I always hear that I need to build a relation with my list so they buy my recommended product.

Can I do this without being personal? or without being passionate about the niche?

Lets say I wanna build a funnel around weightloss, I mean weightloss is not my passion, I'm not even overweight, but if I can provide a real value in my follow up emails can I still build a relation with my list? would they still buy from me?

Do they need to see my face or know me personally to buy from me?

I'm asking to see if anyone else has done it before and make money out of it.

My questions in simple words: Have you ever created a sales funnel that is not around your passion and made money out of it.

I hope my question is clear. If I can get an answer it will really help me a lot.

Thank you so much

You completely CAN make money by building lists in areas outside of your passion zone.

A perfect example: I used to have a number of content sites on male enhancement - and I'm female.

You don't have to show your face. Don't quote me on this being legal, but I was using as my profile pic, the face of someone I grabbed either from a stock image site or one of those free profile image generator thingies. And of course I assigned to it an alias. (Imagine the alternative which I didn't think would go down too well: "Hey there! My name is Amy and today I'm gonna teach you the fastest and easiest ways to increase your length and girth!" >_<)

The main key to making money from the list efficiently though, is that you'll need to provide enough value for people to 1)stay subscribed, and 2)trust your product recommendations enough to purchase through your link.

And in order to provide massive value, you'll need to have done extensive research on the subject matter, so that you can provide useful content/tips to your subscribers.

Either do that yourself, or partner up with someone who has extensive knowledge of the niche.

There IS a lazy-man's way around having to do your own research, but PLEASE look into the legalities of going this route, and I can't be held responsible for any consequences....

You can subscribe to a bunch of lists in the same niche, collect the follow-up emails you receive over the next month or so, then aggregate/re-order/rewrite to come up with your own. (Tip: Start a separate email for each niche and DON'T use your own email whatever you do! I learned that one the hard way...)

To summarize: You can make money in areas you're not passionate in, and you can do so under an alias - but only as long as you can churn out superb content that provides value to your subscribers.

Hope that helps!

AFAIK there is no law against using a pseudonym (fake name) in most juristictions, outside of legal documents where you should use your real name. It's a practice with a very long history in the publishing world - even J.K. Rowling and Stephen King have done it.

As always, worth having a chat with a lawyer. And bear in mind that (in most juristictions) falsely representing yourself is definitely a crime. So don't start a site saying "I'm Jake McBigdong, and I gained 18 inches on my mighty wang using these secrets!"

(Unless you did. In which case go wild. )

There's no problem with using a psuedonym of "Jake McBigdong", but when you say you got mightily enhanced by your own products, you're committing fraud. Prosecutors tend to look dimly on that.

(As a side note - unless you have good reason to use a pseudonym for your business - like Amy's example - it's often easier to just use your real name and pic. It builds trust, makes networking easier, and is just one less thing to worry about. But aliases are still a perfectly acceptable route to go down if you want to do that.)

Finally, to echo Amy's excellent points above - you absolutely don't need to have a passion in your niche to make money from it. Having a passion for your subject has some advantages, but it's by no means required.

I would say that a large part of businesses in any niche or form, is run by people who are not exactly passionate about the subject of their business itself.

But they are definitely passionate about providing a solution to a problem, researching, helping people or maybe screwing people ... maybe they just have a strong passion for money and will do anything it takes to make it ...

Your passion is internet marketing, so focus on that part, for the content side, you can still hire writers who would be passionate about the subject. As Amy suggested, subscribers stay subscribed as long as there is some value in it for them. Passionate or not, in case you can write solid copy and you're good at researching ... your stuff can be of more value than something written by a passionate persona.

To be fair, it definitely helps to find yourself in a niche that is also your passion - simply because you already know a lot about it and doesn't have to research any bit of info you need. You also understand the subject better and know what your possible customers might need. But this is all something that good research can reveal anyways.

To add to Amys example with male enhancement - I used to write reviews of adult sites, you can't even possible imagine what kind of stuff I had to look at sometimes ... and even thou it wasn't my thing at all in maybe 90% of the cases, I could still write reviews that would sell memberships - persistence and strong stomach can take you far )

Let your passion be business strategy and making money then all niches/verticals will be interesting to you. You're limiting yourself only staying with what your interested in. I wasted time for several years making very little money creating content sites and email lists in niches I was personally interested in. In the book "The Millionaire Fastlane" he explains how starting a business based on your passion like commonly recommended isn't really the best idea. Because if your passionate about it, chances are tons of other people are as well creating alot of competition. And this niche may not even be something you can monetize anyway. The guy that starts a business cleaning up crime scenes is making a killing. Because who wants to do that? Meanwhile Karate Dojo #12 in the 30mile radius is struggling.

I joined this forum a very short time ago with the exact plan in mind that you are mentioning now. But could not find any information on it so I started a thread and got some really great responses. I suggest you read them all. Especially Vortex's post really opened my eyes as to why email marketing may not be the best idea.
Thread here https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ow-me-a-floaty

You will learn more in one week here than you ever will in Warrior Forum or BHW or shitty WSO's and internet marketing sites. I strongly recommend you get in some comfortable clothes and a few cups of coffee and spend a couple weeks reading and taking notes on all the threads of everyone that just responded to you. And after that their posts too since they like to leave little gold nuggets laying around. Even if the title isn't something that sounds relevant to what you're looking for read it anyway. You never know where you will find a gold nugget in either the comments or the original post. And that gold nugget could save you thousands of dollars in the future. And always bookmark it, the search bar here is a pain in the ass.
