VAT Tax

Hi,

Wondering if anyone know where we can find information on VAT tax for different geos and how to implement it? Thinking of working beyond US but not familiar with the taxation laws especially regarding e-commerce.

Thanks,
SP

Tax law is complicated, and VAT is no exception.

To put it briefly, VAT is paid by consumers within the EU for goods and services. Companies don't pay VAT or can claim back whatever they paid (depending on many rules).

The rates are different for countries and for goods as well within that country.

If you want to do business from within the EU, you should certainly get in touch with a tax consultant who can give you professional advice.

If you have time and want to learn yourself about it, then this is probably one of the better places to start from: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/vat_en

Very very difficult question and depending on a lot on where you have your legal HQ, where your clients/providers are based and what type of product you are selling (tangible/intangible).

I'd strongly advise to check this with your legal counsel.
