Conversion Targeting Query
Hi everyone and happy new year!
I had an ad set target conversion with purchase as the event I received a good amount of traffic and spent my daily budget of $20 but when I changed it to target 'add to cart' as my conversion event for a new campaign the traffic dried up completely (around $1-2 spend a day). I used autobid as well so I assume bid isn't the issue? Is there something I'm missing?
Btw my fb pixel fires correctly as I have the data from my previous campaigns targeting purchase.
Thanks,
SP

If you were receiving decent traffic with purchase as the event you should still be getting it with "add to cart" too, weird issue.
This has happened to me quite a number of times and that's why I always start my campaigns with View Content as the main event initially and then swap it to whatever I want to test (add to cart, purchase etc.) after the pixel gets some traffic for a day or two. This usually "unclogs" it and traffic continues to flow normally regardless of the event.
Is the add to cart event implemented correctly? Have you added a value? There could be typo in there somewhere.
You can also most definitely test a manual bid, I'm pretty sure it's going to work in case everything else fails.

You can turn your goal as a funnel easily with adresspresso.

Thanks I actually figure out the issue and was just me being stupid with my set up.
Instead wanted to ask why you go for view to cart first not sure what you mean by unclogging?
Also when manual bidding I notice the suggested bid seems to be the same for add to cart and for conversions.. which doesn't make sense to me but if I bid far below the suggested bid then I don't get any traffic. For example if my cost per conversion is $40 then I'm probably bidding around $10 for my add to cart (assuming 25 percent conversion) which has gotten me no traffic in the past
Thanks,

Good to hear!
As for why I use views initially - as I mentioned in my previous post, I've had the same case as you where FB just wasn't sending any traffic if my event was add to cart/purchase (wasn't a technical issue), especially if it's a brand new site and the pixel hasn't received any traffic at all so I just set it to view content, send traffic for a few days so the pixel can get a better idea of the type of traffic I need and what it needs to optimize for, and only then do I switch the main event to add to cart/purchase, if that makes sense. In other words, I let the pixel gather some data with view content because often times I wouldn't receive any traffic if the event is set directly to purchase.
Don't be scared of using higher manual bids, it's something you should definitely test. If the suggested bid is $40, that doesn't mean a single add to cart is going to cost you that much.
