How to introduce Someone to Internet Marketing ?!

Hi Guys ,

I have a friend who doesn't know anything about Internet marketing tho he wants to start something to support his life and make some money online ,

the bad thing is that he has no budget at all and he wants to start with free traffic and the good thing is that he is very motivated and has many reasons to work his ass off , The bad situation for me here is that i don't work with free traffic sources and i actually find myself not able to help him Since he would never accept if i offered him some money to start with , so thats why i am asking you guys , how can i get him started ? and which direction to point him to ? also i would appreciate if you guys can offer me some references to send to him so it can help him starting up !

Thanks in advance !

He should work as a freelancer, and re-invest his money into learning affiliate marketing. You cannot do this without any money; and this forum's focus is on paid traffic sources and media buying.

He can always start with SEO, and also try to find together some heavily discounted paid traffic by maximising trial budgets for different traffic sources. Google, outbrain, and plenty of other sources will have initial discounted bonuses for be advertisers.

There is a limit to this and his numbers will not be very high but it will at least be good training for him.

Tell him to join a pay per call network, and make some flyers for student loan consolidation and hang them around a college campus. Re-invest those earnings into paid traffic.
Craigslist to his lander collect the data re-market offers to the optins

Depending on your skillset/competencies, perhaps you can train him and then hire him for some of your tasks? Sort of like an apprenticeship. Or you can tell him that you believe in him and his ability to tackle AM and then instead of giving or loaning him money, tell him you want to invest in him.

Offer a fair rate (fair relative for someone that has zero experience in AM but shows potential) to invest in him. Say a barebones budget of, 1k/month for 4 months with the option for both parties to agree to extend. He gets to keep anything over $1500/month generated and if he doesn't make it work, he pays you back 4k-losses at a date in the future.

Maybe if you pitch it as a thing where you're doing it also in your own interest he wouldn't feel like it's a handout and his pride wouldn't get in the way.

People always say they are super motivated to "make it" & work their ass of, but can't find the motivation to rake together the initial budget?
I've tried to help many friends to get into internetmarketing but they all failed. After 4 weeks of red numbers they decide it's nothing for them and go back to 9-to-5.

Anyway, this rant is not going to help anyone.

I suggest he starts doing freelance work to rake together the cash (simple design, html, VA work) while studying up.
charlesngo, iamattila, the adcombo blog, matuloo,.. are good places to start learning.
When he has launched 10-15 campaigns himself, you might offer him an "internship" where he gets a profitshare.

Good luck!

True words, no point to help those who can't help themselves. If someone wants to do internet marketing, you shouldn't have to show them the way, they could easily get off their ass, join STM or another forum like Affiliate Fix and start reading.

People want push button system, there's no such thing.

Exactly that's what i have been doing , telling them go read these forums or blogs .. then when they don't come back i know that they will not make it ,

But the problem with this guy is that he is a close friend and he is really in need of this ! so probably he will work his ass off to make it online , and since he has no budget i sent him some forums to learn SEO so he can work as a freelancer and maybe later i can get him into affiliate marketing ..

Thank you guys for the comments

You can start masterminding together and motivate each other.

But it's hard to start with no investments.

Maybe you should hire him and pay him for some work initially, on the other hand he will learn the ins and outs and then he can slowly start on him own.

You can let him read the whole "affiliate marketing bible", but unless he starts acting he will learn nothing.

Learning is doing.

This shows you are a good person (which was already very clear because you are making this forumpost).
However, if you try to fix the problems from everybody else in this world, you'll go crazy.

He should fix his own issues - you can only give your best shot to point him into the right direction.
If he's starving to death, give him a fish. But eventually he needs to learn fishing himself.

Small niche sites, this still works for lower level income. He can write about whatever he likes, or simple research the topics.

Send him to Pat Flynns blog : www.smartpassiveincome.com - and tell him to listen to those podcats, he interviews tons of people who run successful online operations, many of them based on pretty unusual ideas

Or this one : http://www.matuloo.com/small-niche-sites-with-huge-roi/ He can still fire up something similar, just on a bigger scale.

I tell everyone who wants to know what I do "Go on STM and read everything that looks remotely interesting. After a month call me and we can discuss" Nobody ever does it....... to lazy to even read a fucking forum with a wealth of information.

I tell people to signup for amazons affiliate program, find a book they like, and write a little review and recommendation of it to their family/friends in a facebook post, just to kindof 'make it real' for people.

I found that most muggles 'dont understand' that people buy many of the weird, no-brand products/apps/etc that are bandied about on the big CPA networks the paid traffic guys here promote.

Depending on the person though, I believe this confuses some people.

I actually believe this is the best option. Have him work for free, and give him some sort of profit-sharing eventually.
