Conversion Tracking on Bing (12)

Conversion Tracking on Bing

Hi folks.

I have an affiliate campaign that I'm currently running on Bing and would like to be able to track the conversions.

I've read through what little information there is on here where others have looked into this in the past, but there doesn't appear to be a lot of information on 1) whether this can work or 2) if it can, how to get it setup properly. I did see a note from someone that spoke of just firing a server to server postback instead of using UET, but I can't find any information from Bing on how this would be done.

From everything I can tell, it looks like Bing only uses UET tags now when handling tracking and conversions.

Based on all the information I've been able to find from Bing and other sources around the web it looks like the computer of the end user that completes the transaction has to be the one that fires the conversion pixel. If this is not correct, please let me know.

In case it matters (for a workaround, kludge, or outright hack in the classical sense) I'm using CPVLab for tracking on my end and the network is using Cake on their end.

If anyone has conversion tracking for affiliate offers working on Bing and wouldn't mind sharing some information on how they've done it, it would be most appreciated.

Best bet is to get in touch with an account manager, somehow. I over heard someone in my office having a similar issue and they worked to find a contact, had a call, and sorted it out. Best of luck my friend!

I have conversion tracking set up in Voluum with Bing. I'm not sure exactly how CPVlab works, but the traffic source of Bing shouldn't really matter. What's important is connecting your tracker to your affiliate network (Using a postback URL should work). Then once that is done, when you create your link through your tracker, you should be good to go.

The most important part in tracking is making sure your tracker (in this Voluum) is connected with your affiliate network. In case you are an affiliate with us, here you can find a step by step integration guide: http://support.addiliate.com/voluum-...sion-tracking/

Never run any campaign without tracking. And before you launch any campaign place a test conversion and make sure the test is measured both in your tracker (voluum) and the affiliate network. Only then you can take your campaigns live. Sounds all very logic but still many affiliates don't do this in a disciplined way for every campaign.

Guys, thanks for the response, but I may have not been entirely clear with this, thus creating a bit of confusion. My tracker, CPVLab, is tied in properly with my affiliate networks and tracking just fine with my affiliate networks.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to report a conversion back to Bing. From what I'm seeing, it looks like they handle everything through UET tags now. I'm still looking around to see if there is a server to server postback with them, as I saw it mentioned in one of the other threads.

I do think I will take chaseyrita's advice though and see if I can get into touch with an AM over at Bing. Conversion tracking shouldn't be this convoluted. :-)

why do you wanna do that when you're already tracking conversions using cvplab?

Ahhh, I have always wanted to do that as well with Bing! I always thought it could only be done if I owned the offer, and had access to the actual offer page. If you were able to find a solution, please do share.

@centurys i think this is wanted because it will help optimize within Bing. That's why I would want it at least.

I've spoken with multiple reps @Bing about this. I understand exactly what you are trying to do.

I know in Google Adwords that you can track what converts right from the Google Dashboard and you can set all this up.

Bing, unfortunately at this time doesn't do this as they just use the UET (which sucks).

I've also contacted the AM @ the affiliate network and they wanted the UET code, so there may be a way with the actual network to get them to set it up and hard code it for you but then they too know what's working for you.

Most of the people aren't technical at Bing and when you try to explain it to them they think you are just looking for conversions and it's ok to use their UET code...not the case.

I'm still doing some more research on this and once I get a clear cut answer from them I'll keep you updated.

I had the same issue last year, after trying to setup postback (which they dont support) I got my advertiser to place the UET tag on their end. Could be a pain in the ass if u r not close with the advertiser .

You can track conversions with Bing the same way you do with Adwords. Grab the Bing Tracking Code and put it in an .html page (thankyou.html). Put that page in the same domain of your Campaign / display URL. Domain should be HTTPS.

So, if your CPA Network supports iFrame pixel, use the url where your put the thankyou.html (for instance: https://yourcampaigndomain.com/thankyou.html). This should work most of the time, if the user's browser supports cookie.

For me it works 98% of the time, even if mobile traffic.

Regards,

PS: add me on Skype and I can help you set it up within 5 mins.

Guys, I really appreciate all the responses. I was away a bit for the holidays, so I'm just catching up on most of the responses today.

I did manage to figure this out, though it took a little time to work it out and setup. I do like cosmeivan's method of doing this and I will give it a shot with one of my future campaigns.

As to why I would want to do this when the conversion is tracked in CPVLab, well by knowing which traffic is providing conversions, Bing, and Adwords, can make better informed decisions on who sees the ad based on who's more likely to convert. With Adwords, it also allows you to bid CPA, which has been very successful with a couple of campaigns. Bing allows for enhanced CPC based on conversions, which is why I wanted to get this working in the first place.

Hey astrogeek, what did you end up doing? I'm in the same boat trying to get conversions into Bing.
